Worried about Ellen’s weight

It sounds like you are doing a great job Claire and Ellen isn't loosing dramatically.
Lucy is our IC piggy and she is almost 4 now and I have noticed a very gradual weight loss over the past 12 months.
She definitely looses when she is having a flare, but tends to slowly bounce back over time, but she hasn't been over 1kk in weight for almost a year now.
Although at her heaviest she was only even 1060 - 1080 grams.
I know it's hard but I try not to worry and I also try not to weigh too much as this often worries me further.

I try to step back and look at Lucy herself. Is she eating? Does she come to the front of the cage for a treat? Is she shouting at Harry when he endlessly rumble struts at her?

If the answer to all of these is yes then I assume she is feeling ok within herself and it isn't always about the number on the scale.

I’m sorry that you have an IC piggy too but Lucy sounds perfectly fine. Ellen was 1160g in her prime so a little overweight but I’d rather be fat than thin :( but Ellen is acting perfectly fine eating, drinking and putting Edward in his place. Thank you, you’ve made me feel better
 
So Ellen has been to the vet today. She’s had her urine properly checked and stuff and she doesn’t have kidney failure or any other organ failure. My vet thinks her recent weight loss is due to her IC but she has started her on sulfatrim and I’m to keep and eye on her and drop another urine sample off in a months time
 
Good to hear there's nothing unexpected going on, hope the sulfatrim helps and her IC calms down x
 
Aw, that sounds like good news, hoping the meds kick in quick and Ellen makes a speedy recovery x

I’m in the same boat with a post op piggy.
I’ve been scattering oats in with the feed and adding ProC to her water. Lots of extra forage in with the nuggets to tempt her and a small dish of Critical Care in the cage (greedily scoffed by the others!)

Hope the Sulfatrim and all your loving care of Ellen leads to a speedy recovery.

I hope she is ok.... these piggies like to worry us.. are the porridge oats just like normal human ones ? Just out of curiosity? X
 
I’m giving oats at the moment as Phoebe is post op and needs to regain weight.
I’ll stop when she’s back to her normal weight and then give them as an occasional treat

I wont be giving them to Pippin then as she is a little fatty lol! Altho she has lost weight since we lost Gladys so monitoring her... she never stops eating tho! X
