As most of you know he went to the vets last week as he was impacted and has a yeast infection. I have been cleaning him and giving him his meds and cream as advised by the vet.
My concern is how Lincoln is being, i know his not going to like whats happening but he seems so depressed by it. His not his normal self at all. He isnt eating his veg (not sure about his pellets) and all he seems to do is sleep. When i have a cuddle with him he just lays down on me and gentle talks to me. normally his messing about and playing me up. I just can tell his really upset by all of it.
I dont know what to do to make things better. i had some play time with him and he just wasnt interested. He normally wont leave me alone. What should i do? poor Lincoln 8...

Chez is he on probiotics as well? their drugs which are fab to help them believe me, but they need probiotics to settle the tum back down again.
Go thru threads but i know somebody will suggest something soon for you love........COME ON LINC xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>
erm love pm a few of our lovely people who have the right knowledge to help xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi Chez
Sorry to hear that Lincoln isn't his usual self. Baytrill can upset a piggies tummy and he really should be on a Pro biotic. Your vet can prescribe you some or I have some of this from Pets at Home http://www.petsathome.com/find/keyword-is-probiotic xx

i didnt know you could get them from there, are they ok to take with the baytril?
Thanks Debbie i will mention these to the vets when I'm there tomorrow if he still needs antibiotics x

Chez i think Linc may need his meds a bit longer...but see what they say, i have found from just my limited experience 7-10 days a minimum
probiotics WILL help his little tummy it will settle it all down and get the natural gut juices doing the right thing :)
If you not sure about the right one to ask for, put up another thread... i know you'll get the answers :)
again love i'm sending that cute guy (oooooo he is soo mega cute) healing wheeeeeeeks and you need some to sweetie xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>

Yes it is fine to take with baytril. My vet even looked at it for me and said it was fine. It also has added vitamin C which is good for piggies. This one goes in the drinking water which Eliza has also drank and it has done her no harm. Probiotics can also be syringed a few hours after the antibiotics. Your vet should prescribe you some. Luckily, the baytril didn't make Connie poorly (e.g. feeling under the weather) but I gave her probiotics just incase her tummy was a little unsettled. (((hugs))) to you and Lincoln xx

How are you getting on with the daktarin oral gel Chez? that will help too :)

(((Hugs))) to you both x

I'm sorry he is seeming down and affected Chez. They really do know how to worry us sick!

As Debbie said, Baytril is a harsh drug that does affect some piggies adversly. Some are completely intolerant of it and get diarrhea and a complete loss of appetite when on it. Septrin is much gentler on the tummy. Some vets do have to order out for it though, it's a children's suspension so some vets can be a bit funny about wanting to prescribe it. It is a good drug though, thought to be one of the best and gentlest antibiotics for piggies.

Probiotics - like Bio-Lapis or Avipro plus - are mixed with water (usually one scoop in 200ml, but you can instead use half a scoop in 100ml), and syringed directly to the pig about 1-2 hours after the antibiotic.

Hope Lincoln picks up very soon for you. x
