I know this sounds depressing but now and again i worry about losing my piggies, specially Cookie because she's about 2 or 3 1/2 now and i dunno how long i've got her for or i worry whether something is going to be wrong with her, like i find a lump.
I've never had any troubles with Cookie before, she's always been healthy and has never had to go to the vets. But i'm worry because she's not had any troubles, that soume may come up as she's older. I love her to bits and i often think what i'd do without her. She's a bossy pig and i love her personality and i don't think i'll ever get another like her (or i know i won't be able to have another piggie because my dad says these two are the last ones i'll be allowed :( )

I worry about Masiey too because she's soo adorable, i worry i'll find something wrong with her and lose her. I get like it with my hamster too.

Do you often worry about when your piggies might die, if you'll find a lump etc and how you'll cope without that pig?

I have a feeling Cookie's going to live to her full life and i hope she does and just dies of old age. :)
And it just goes to show i think i've looked after her well. because if I didn't look after her well, she would've died ages ago, right?

Bailey lived till 8 and outlived all his pals - what a trooper! I know exactly how you feel though, I worried all the time about how long my pigs had left but I think the main thing is to take care of them to the best of your ability and make the most of ever moment cos they are so precious.

I worry alll the time aswell!
When there just sleeping i panic that their not breathing!:red, but thats just me worrying to much!
All my piggies have been ill =[..My Piggy Daisy died of Cancer earlier this year, and it was so heartbreaking! 8... Then Maisy got lumps! and i panicked like mad! as i thought she will have cancer too!..But luckily it was not, and with a bit of medicine they went away :)
My rescue piggy GOT very ill afew months after getting her, One day suddenly she went all wobbly and could not stand and her head kept lopping to one side and she just kept going to lie down, i could see she was very disstressed :(..I rushed her to the vet straight away they had to keep her in over night, the next day she still was not better and they done various checks on her but could not find out what was wrong (they had never seen this in a g'pig before :o). I finally was able to take her home and she was on a couple of diffrenet medicines, i never thought she was going to make it!
But she did! :)):)) She is back to her normal self now! YAY..but now they have mites rolleyes..so thats more trips to the vets and more medicine being taken! I just have no luck! lol

So yes i am the same..always worrying i will loose my Pets and plus they are about 3 years old now (or more) And i worry about my cat as she is 17!

well i suppose this is what keeping animals is about!

All my piggies have been ill

I am so blessed with my pigs. Most had been ill in their lives and had had various operations to sort out lumps and bladder stones but they all survived and lived to a ripe old age. All died in their sleep which I think is a lovely way to go.

aww thats so nice that they all died in their sleep at an old age! it is definatley the best way to go!

I'm always worrying about my gang, a couple of them have been poorly and i lost one :( and I'm syringe feeding my baby at the moment due to a mouth infection rolleyes i check them everyday for lumps and bumps etc i guess I'm just a paranoid piggy mum rolleyes:))

I dread going in to the barn of a morning but there they all are squeaking like mad like they have never been fed! rolleyes

Mine are all young really, my oldest pair are 17 months but hopefully they will live a long life. Just enjoy them and don't worry! :)

i worry every morning that when i go out to feed my piggies that there will be something wrong or one might have passed away in the night i am so relieved when they are all there happy to see me

i think its normal...

I'm the same with my pets I have a chinchilla that I rescued and I don't know how old he is and when i came down the other morning he was asleep in his box with his nose flat on the floor and i thought he had suffocated himself so i had to wake him up to make sure he was ok.(he did not appreciate it!) I know chins are supposed to sleep all day - which he does - but they are supposed to wake up at night and be really active...Dylan obviously thinks life's better if you just take it easy and he's just sleepy all the time unless you wave a raisin in front of him. He had a rubbish past before i took him in and i have no idea if that affects him now so i worry about him ALL the time:...

I think I'm a natural worrier and i guess some people are better at it than others :))

we all love our pets as much as anyone else in our family and its natural to fear for them because you just just want the best for them:)

The only time i worry about going into the shed is after one has gone to the bridge or one has been ill. Why worry about what "may" happen? Enjoy your piggies for the time they are here, life is too short :)

I agree with Niki! Life is too short to worry about the what ifs. I just keep an eye on my piggies out of course, and love watching them run around! I just don't....think about what'll happen when they go. I'll worry about it when it comes to that.

aww I'm so sorry Hannah that you've had lots of piggies that have been poorly. But YAY! glad your rescue piggie has got better from that illness she got. I had a piggie that fall by accident and she had to have her leg amputated because it developed an infection in her leg and we thought she wasn't gonna make it but she did and i was so proud of her!
Good luck with sorting out your piggies mite problem.

But yeah, they are precious and i do enjoy every moment that they are here and i try to give them lots of love and healthy treats and let them go out in the garden when it's nice.
