Hi Everyone, I'm new to this here and have only now joined this forum.I am concerned about one of my guineas...let me explain... i have two beautiful and wonderful Guinea Pigs who I really adore. I have had Toby (long haired lilac breed) for 2 yrs but he has lost two companions as they had tumours and had to be put down. Finally he has a 8 mth old companion Lucious ( who i got from an animal welfare rescue centre) My two Guineas have always got on well and Toby excepted Lucious possibly because he was still a baby and no threat and i have never seen them fight or become aggressive to one another.Recently the Guineas have had quite a few visits to the vets and had front line ivermectin administered 5 times on their necks. Eventually they did a skin scrape on my youngest guinea to find mites! Because it has been going on for quite a long time the vet mentioned it may be a good idea to have three courses of injections of ivermectin to try and sort the problem. So i went with this idea as i just want my Guineas back well again! I am worried as my 2 year old Guinea Toby has lost hair around the sides of his front legs and nearing the top of his back 3 days after the ivermectin injection. Can any one help....dont know if he's stressed, unwell, loss of hair due to ivermectin inject? Ive even took all wood chippings out of their cage and given shredded paper instead to help ease their mites. But dont know if it willl make any difference. Any one out there who knows could you please give me some advice...thanks. ps. they are both eatingg and drinking well
