My two beautiful girls have spent their while lives together, and I came home from work on Friday and one of them had passed away. I am so heartbroken.
I am worried about my girl yumyum. She was fine yesterday but today she didn't come out for her breakfast which she always does, with loads of enthusiasm. I've had to pick her up and encourage her to eat, and she isn't as energetic.
I don't want to replace my other girl but I know yumyum needs a companion. Has anyone got advice on when I should do this? Thank you

I’m not sure how old your girls were or whether the passing was unexpected. Is it possible that Yumyum is actually I’ll as opposed to grieving? It may just be worth getting her checked out by a vet before getting a new companion. The link shared above by @Betsy is a great piece of advice on caring for a bereaved piggy. Please let us know how she gets on.

I am so sorry you have lost your girl. I lost one of my boars this week, it's so hard to know what to do for the best for the one left behind. I have found the bereavement thread very helpful. As said above it would be a ood idea to get your piggy vet checked.

So sorry that you lost one of your girls suddenly this week. As others have already said it would be sensible to get the other piggy checked out by the Vet. If all is well at the vets it would be best for the remaining piggy to have a companion once you have had time to come to terms with your very sad loss.If you have a rescue centre near you they will be happy to help you find the ideal friend!

Are you feeling any better today?.x

She is getting on well today. She is eating and chattering and we have spent a lot of time with her and changed her cage and her run around so it is different. We've also got her some small teddies for her to cuddle. I'm dreading going to work tomorrow and leaving her though. Hope it gets easier I'm so sad still x

It does get easier but it takes time. I'm finding keeping busy helps. It's good your girl is eating and chattering, I put a teddy in Bracken's favourite corner and it was thrown out across the cage within a few seconds of him meeting it! Does she like the TV or radio? If so you could leave something on for her tomorrow while you are at work. Sending hugs to you and your girl.

Yes it’s a good idea to leave some background noise for her!
Glad she seems to be coping well.
