I just got my guinea pig on saturday 3-24-12 and he has started sneezing ever since I brought him home and I'm worried about him. Please somebody give me an answer please.
I have some soft bedding that's called care fresh bedding and there seems to be nothing coming out of his nose, would they start sneezing if the house is cold and how could you keep them warm.
If the house is too cold for you, its too cold for him. Maybe try getting him some snugs and cuddle beds and giving him some fleece. And getting him a friend. Piggies are sociable creatures and do better in pairs. You can also get him some heat pads etc. But if he continues to sneeze try changing the bedding. If he had very dusty hay this may also cause sneezing.
Listen to his chest while he breathes, try to hear any wheezing. Check his eyes and nose for any discharge. Weigh him to see if he has lost weight (one of the first signs of illness ). If you notice ANY of these symptoms please contact a vet ; he could have a URI. It's treatable if caught early, but gps go down hill quickly. Hth xx.
