What is the best food for their teeth?I am feeding my two skinny girls (12 weeks old) the following

pellets all the time- which they dont really like and dont eat much of
hay blocks all the time which they dont really like and dont eat much of
grass from outside once a day which they do like and finish
veggies twice a day including dandelion which they love and finish

If I have to feed them the loose hay then I will have to re home them as I have major breathing issues with it. I have tried all methods and they dont work.I want to do what is best for them. I am worried about their teeth getting too long. I find little pieces of carrot bits now on the floor of their cage and am thinking their teeth are in trouble as I read this is a sign of teeth being too long.

Thanks for your help

Guinea pigs need hay 24 hours a day. It should make up 80% of their diet. This is an essential part of keeping guinea pigs.

thanks for your reply. I will have to figure out what to do about this . If hay is a necessity for all day I cant live with the allergy issue. I know they love hay as i did try to provide it for them but I cant even breath properly. They live with us in the house as after all they are skinnies.

Unfortunatly If you can find no way to combat this I really feel guinea pigs are not the pets for you. Having no hay can cause digestive problems, and as you are discovering, serious teeth problems.

I can see you care about your animals and I dont want to have a go, but I think this is a problem that needs sorting fast, for the piggies sake.
