Hoggle & Ludo are getting noticeably wet on their bums after sitting in their wee and their fur is starting to stick together but even if I go through it with my fingers to detangle, they really cry and Hoggle is the worst for it.

How can I go about this? Will it make their skin sore?

Hoggle tends to make little noises when I go anywhere near his bum, does he have a problem do you think? :(

I would suggest a bath and short back but you can leave the sides....

Me too. My peruvians do it and I initially thought there was something wrong with them and treated them. BUT after being on here and asking questions it seems alot of guineas hate their long bottom hair being brushed (even with fingers) and I expect now it's been done and hurt they are even more skittish about it.

I would definitely cut off the tangles and leave it at that when it comes to grooming their back end.

You can wipe their bottoms with grooming wipes to take the wee off every other day or so it you like. I'm sure you can buy those in pets at home (although I got mine online)

Some pigs do tend to sit in their own wee :( My shelties are the worst for it. The best you can do is to keep their cage as clean as possible (some are better on fleece as it wicks the moisture away) or Megazorb, so experiment with different beddings, that might help.

My really messy pigs I keep cut really short behind, it makes a big difference. Frequent baths are often in order but mine are in the shed so I don't do them in the colder months.

Thank you for the advice. :)

I have human moist toilet wipes, would they be safe for them?

I am going to have to be brave, my bf said he would help me bathe them tomorrow (after I put the Christmas tree up of course!) -c

So I will bathe, dry and trim them, then they will be like brand new! :(|)

ive used baby wipes on mine the non fragrant ones.i think your 2 need a bath and trim, good luck with that I'm sure theyll moan about it!

I have two long haired piggys and my one used to sit in his pee! But now i use megazorb and find that he is dry. I do trim the bum area and they have a bath whenever they need one which is usually ever 2 months or less.

I comb there hair every day or every other day. They hated it at first but now they are used to it. I give them some treats whilst I'm brushing to take there mind off it as they can be wriggles.:))

Have fun bathing and dont forget the photos!

I use fleece and will trim the backend with my two longhaired girls as soon as it becomes a problem.

I have the same problem with Mildred and Holly, they usually need a bath at least every 4 weeks with having long hair. I trim their bum hair pretty much short as short can be and find it easier to manage. They soon get a bit untidy and it is usually when the hair starts growing again.
I find brushing every day helps keep them tangle free and they get used to being brushed.
Posh and Go shampoo from gorgeous guineas I thoroughly recommend, although I think it smells of turkish delight, as long as you don't mind your piggies smelling of roses :))

They definately will moan! :(|)

I have just taken some pics now! drool

They were sat on my lap being really good but I guess they were just frozen with fear! :{

This has been posted before but it makes me laugh!
