I'm so worried about my baby, Walnut, she is only a month and a half old, and yesterday I noticed her breathing sounds congested. Then I noticed her nose running. She's going to the vets today at 10:30am. I'm actualy taking her Mom and Ping (neutered male) in as well because if she has an URI they probalbly will all need treatment.

Such a worry! Can you please send out healing vibes for them? I noticed Lulu May's nose is also runny. :(

Here are pics of my babies:

This is Walnut

My friend's little girl Zelda had an URI at a similar age (maybe a bit younger even). She had a short course of antibiotics and it cleared up quickly although she's been left with a click (vet said it might stay with her as she was so young). Good that you're seeing a vet stright away. Can't be too careful. Hope it all goes ok and Walnut is feeling better soon. xx

Good on you for seeing the vet straight away!

Hopefully, little Walnut will get better soon!

Thanks all. We are leaving in about half an hour. I'll let you guys know what happens.

best of luck at the vets! :) wishing your piggy a speedy recovery!

I hope the vet appointment went well, I do think you're doing just the right thing in getting them all checked over quickly. Do update soon as you can, hugs to little Walnut and co. xx

Hi everyone,

We're back from the Vets and all the pigs were checked over. Only Walnut has the runny, congested nose, her lungs are fine. The Vet also took her temperature and it was fine as well. So she said to wait and see how she is in a couple days and if she gets worse then she'll prescribe her an antibiotic. But because Walnut is so young the Vet hesitates to give her antibiotics at this point because her lungs are clear and she is eating well and active still.

In fact, my little girl wouldn't stop talking at the vets, it was quite funny.

Also, I had recently switched to this VERY dusty hay and I was hesitant to use it for that reason. I told the Vet about it and she said that yes it could be an allergy, so I got rid of that nasty hay and got some fresh, green Timothy hay today. I've cleaned their cage thoroughly and washed it out as well. So I hope to see an improvement in her nose. If not, I'm watching her like a hawk and she'll be back at the Vets asap.

I'm relieved all the pigs got their breathing listened to. I couldn't stop worrying about them all.

Thanks again for your posts. :)

Lynn

I hope she improves and doesn't need any meds. Could well be the hay that upset her, hoping the change to a better hay does the trick for her.
