My boyfriend @Nathan has 3 guinea pigs. One of them hedwig, doesn't like getting his hair cut he is terrified of the noise scissors make. Tonight we used clippers on him, he was quite wriggly but far calmer than when we try and use the scissors. Once we were done he was quite restless and was breathing very fast. We put him back in his cage as we wouldn't
settle with cuddles.
His breathing is very heavy and he keeps lying down after only a few steps.
Will he be ok? We are quite worried he doesn't look very good.

Since putting hedwig back in his cage. One of his other guineas mason keeps trying to hump hedwig. We have taken mason out the cage to let hedwig rest. Is this just coincidence? He just wouldn't leave him alone, and it's not something he would normally do.

When did this happen? How is he at the moment? If your worried you should take him to a vet if you ring your vet there should be a number of an out of hours vet who could see you.

I am on my phone so can't do a full post but I agree that it would be a good idea to speak to the emergency vet.

Are you in the uk? Is it hot and humid where you are? As that could affect his breathing especially if he got himself stressed. Did he have any breathing issues earlier in the day?

He seems much better now. Yeah we are in the uk and it is very humid. I guess it must be the heat. Cause all 3 guineas are breathing heavier than normal tonight.
Just about to put mason back in the cage, hopefully he won't hump him

It sounds like he is very very stressed out. It is also very hot so he may be over heating with the stress. Pop some cucumber in with him so it will help cool him down. Please contact a vet if his breathing gets worse.

He has totally calmed down now.
We are just gonna get some cucumber for them to eat as it is very humid tonight.
Any ideas on the humping? Mason won't leave the other two alone.
We were thinking that maybe because of the heat their scents are stronger or something?
Should we separate him from the other two for tonight?
