Today, my guinea pig got 3 shots at the vet's office (antibiotic, anti-inflammatory something, and vitamins) and started coughing more than before (from once in two days cough to several times in afternoon). The Vet said the cough is probably caused by some infection, but not necessarily respiratory system infection, rather infection in the eye that causes troubles in other parts of his body.

Does anyone have similar experience? Is it just antibiotics doing what it should or just a really bad coincidence?

Hi! Please be aware that it takes 1-2 days for any antibiotic to kick in fully. They do not work instantly!

Well, I know... I am just scared and trying to ease my mind with anything...

I would recommend to find something productive to do outside the piggy room, so you are not hovering and are not obsessing over their health. The more you hover, the more time slows down for you and the more anxious you get. As long as your piggy is lively and eating, it is not in any danger of dying. ;)

You can go and get some probiotics from a pet shop; give a pinch either 1 hour before or 1-2 hours after an antibiotic dose to support the guts. Antibiotics can be an appetite dampener.
You can also place a bowl of steaming water next to the cage and refill it from time to time; that can help to ease the breathing.
