Would feeding them at a different time matter?

Normally after school I walk the dog and then go out to feed the guinea-pigs at about 5pm. I give them hay, food and fill up their water bottles. I'm going to the cinema tommorow straight after school because it takes us a while to get there on the train, and my Mum has said she'll feed the guinea-pigs for me. The only thing is she forgets to do the water and doesn't give them hay. I've tried reminding her but she either doesn't remember or just doesn't, I don't know, but I really want them to have hay, partly because I know it's good for them etc. but also to keep them warm. Sorry if I'm just worrying and being fussy but does it matter if I gave them hay and topped up water tommorow morning before school, then went and gave them hay and water when I get back at about 8.30? I know it won't kill them to wait a few more hours but I just don't want to change their routine, if that makes sense.

No, I think they will cope just fine! They may be a little put out at their hay being late....but they'll be plesently surprised by their veggies being early!

I wouldn't worry too much, my pigs aren't stuck in a set routine and cope with it just fine.

We tend to feed our piggies (in the evening) any time between 7pm and 10pm due to work. They don't seem to mind but the later it is, the more demanding squeeks we get to put the food in quicker.

Can you stick a reminder notice for your mother to refill water and hay by the hutch?

Otherwise, they won't perish if they have to wait for two hours for once (although they will probably try to tell you otherwise!).

Put more hay and fresh water out tomorrow morning.
