Ive seen one in th e flesh and its not very big... and slighlty impractical i would imagine.

surely their is very little hutch space for pigs in the winter? how would you keep them warm and safe?

As far as i can remember the main house part is quite wide and the doors at the front open seperatley, which means you have to reach in quite far back through a fairly narrow door to clean it.

Ahhh I see what you mean.

I was wondering about the space for them in the winter. Do you not let yours run in a run during the winter months then?

OHh I see.

Can I ask where you keep them and do they run in the house?

I hate mine being outside I really do! My husband says I am ott but I worry about them getting cold;-)

my pigs are indoor pigs! i could not imagine putting them outside but if i had to my first concern would be keeping them cool in summer and warm in winter with things like snuggles.

I want mine indoors but hubby says its not pracitcal, he said they would smell and we do't have a room for a large hutch indoors, lol!

this is what they live in at the moment its a c&c cage. their are lots of threads on these but i just bought a new ready built cage today which is a similar size.

new cage for my baby boy womble who is separated from the girls till he can have the snip

OH that looks lovely & cosy.

I would like to keep them indoors but not sure hubby would be happy about it, I guess a cage would take up alot of room and he isn't keen on them running around the house;-)

Mine are in c & c cages indoors and I have 10 pigs!
Have a look at these ideas: www.cavycages.com

The grids are cheap to buy and you can make any shape to fit a corner or under the stairs etc...

www.screwfix.co.uk for the grids and sign shops or travis perkins does the correx. Best of all, when not in use, they dismantle and store very easily and take up hardly any room.

A lot of members here have their pigs outdoors in the spring/summer and bring them indoors for the winter. They are the least smelly animals I know and I clean mine twice per week, never smells in here. May depend on which bedding you use though..I use aubiouse and hay or vetbed on newspaper!

zooplus do that cage. also you could possibly look at a nero from PAH.

I work in chester, and i think the store by the sainsburys stocks the neros.

pigs only really smell bad if they aren't changed enough. i have all ours inside, and think they smell lovely... usually. I think its probably the hay.

I worry about outside pigs getting chills in the winter.

Thank you all for your replies. The C&C cages look fab, where do I start though, it seems so complicated, lol!

I have 3 male guinea's, I'm not sure what size I would need to make the cage? and what do you line them with underneath?

Sorry for all the questions.

and this is mine. you wouldn't have to make yours so big for 3 pigs. I used 1 box of cubes from screwfix £18.99. 1 bag of cable ties £1, and a peice of off cut lino (free from my dad).

total cost £19.99

It measures just over a meter by a meter.

If thats any help.

I'd be a bit worried about that ramp. One of them could fall and hurt themselves.
It also wouldn't be a good idea for the winter. The grass might be wet and they could catch a chill or URI. :)

I have 3 guinea's. TOday I have moved them inside for keeps now;-)

I have some C&C things on their way to me and I am keeping them in the dining room (we hardly use it) until the utility is done (being done next mth) then they can live in there. Will they be ok with the dryer being on in there though? its a biggish room.

I will keep their run for the summer, I take it they will be ok to run outdoors in the summer on the grass?

Do you let them run indoors? how do you cope with the poo?

My husband is allergic to my piggies so they have to live outside.

They have large hutches which I have ordered a thermal waterproof cover for, I am also going to line the hutches with ply inside. I have snugglesafe heat pads too for the winter.

I think that the zooplus hutch would be fab for the nice weather but not great for the wet and cold weather - sorry.

ours live indoors, all 11 of them - wouldnt put them outside even if the bf said i had to! We have two runs which we set up in the bedroom, so they can have their running around time and then they fold away every night - to be honest the only thing i can smell is hay all the time, only now and again i can smell poo, but that's when i get home from work and they've pooed all day and I hoover all the poos out every night, so then it just smells of just hay!

not fair

why are these C&C's not available here in oz grrrrgrrrrgrrrr i have been to target, kmart, bigw, bunnings, mitre 10 plus various petshops and nothing, nada. my piggies could be so happy in one of those and the vet bed you have in there is also not available here in oz 8...8...8...
it is so not fair! i don't think i would have the piggies in the same room as the drier when drier is in use as piggies can become sick in sudden temp changes, perhaps move them to another room when using the drier.
good luck in getting a new cage for them:)p
