Would this be suitable?

Mine are indoors at the moment and they only smell if you dont clean them out every other day! TO be honest i think once an animals starts to smell its too late and cleaning should have been done earlier!

They have a large cage etc but my house is way too small for them (only space is on the dining room table!) so they will be going outside in a week...
They will be in a sheltered place in a hutch with a hutch hugger and lots of hay and snuggly places to hide in...
Its not so much the cold but draughts and damp that are the problem... Your best bet is to double insulate a hutch big enough for all of them over the winter months dont worry about the run until it gets dryer and warmer and just make sure they are warm and dry...

I will be puting and extra layer of plywood inside the hutch to make sure draughts dont get through and an extra carpet on the front over the hutch hugger for added insulation...
 
I have brought our piggies in here since joining this forum. Have no intention of them going outside again - I LOVE having them in the house! They are so friendly - they get loads more attention, more food and treats and are generally being much better cared for to be honest. I saw the hutch you were considering and thought "wow" but that was before I knew it was better for them to be indoors and that damp grass can be bad for piggies little feet.

I have a few indoor Qs though.

1) If they get ill is it unlikely their illnesses will be passed onto humans? I have 3 very young children who get ill enough as it is;-) they handle the piggies alot so was just wondering if this can happen.

2) Are mites/fleas rare? hubby has come round to the idea that they are gona stay inside but worried about fleas, lol!

3) Where do you let them run if you keep them indoors?

They're more likely to catch something from humans. They can't catch colds but they can catch bacterial chest infections (like pneumonia). The only thing that people can really catch from them (rarely) is ringworm. This is NOT common and just as likely to happen with an indoor piggy as with an outdoor one.

Guinea pigs don't get fleas. Mites and lice are fairly common but not something that humans get.

All over the floor in the house in a place away from wires. Fun fun fun! You can use C&C grids to block off areas you don't want them to go.

I shall make sure my little boy with a cough stays away from them for now;-)

We had them in the living room today and the kids loved it but god they pooed everywhere, lol!

it is so not fair! i don't think i would have the piggies in the same room as the drier when drier is in use as piggies can become sick in sudden temp changes, perhaps move them to another room when using the drier.

Just a note on C&Cs! Two of mine are very capable of scaling them and getting out lol! Generally they dont but sometimes it just takes their fancy to nip next door to my other pigs lol! they do only do it if they know there's something solid to land on so dont worry too much just bear it in mind with positioning :) i'd never heard of any doing it but found 3 pigs in one cage one day when there was only supposed to be one! turned the lights off and watched as the both spider-pigged up the sides and jumped off the top lol! x
