So after Jacob’s passing, I took a huge gamble. I attempted to bond my lone boar Boris with my boar herd of 3 (Rufus, Thor and Merlin)
In all of these years of having boars, I never ever thought I could keep the one herd together. But these 4 really get along! They all respect that Rufus is in charge (and he happens to be a very fair boss, he’s no aggression in him at all. He will just move the others if they are in his way). The other 3 are very submissive and seem to by happy with this hierarchy
They very quickly sorted out the herd dynamics, and are now happily living together. Merlin has the occasional rumble (I think it’s on the video
), but that’s all he does! He then keeps out of the way of the older boys
They have a full spare room of space, lots of hay and more than 2 of everything.
We have kept an eye on them all weekend, and had the camera on. They have continued to get along well.
I’m so pleased. My happy little boar herd
