Dear piggie caretakers of the United Kingdom,

I am Astrid from Frankfurt in Germany.

I would kindly ask for your help with something, that is incredibly important to me.

I have a good friend, whose name is Sebastian. He is the most kind-hearted person I have ever met in my life. I owe him so much. He is a wonderful guy and you would love him as I do.

He has two guinea pigs, whom he really loves. He is very devoted to taking care of their well-being and gave them the best home, they could possibly have.

Sadly he is seriously ill now, it is not a deadly disease, but one, that probably will not be cured. He is going through a lot of pain. He is 30 years old, but bedridden already.

The good thing is, YOU CAN HELP!

His birthday is May,10th. I would like to do something, that could cheer him up.

He would be delighted to see a picture or even more pics of each one of your piggies and read what you have to say about your guinea pigs character(s). Every cavy is unique and I know, he would appreciate it so much, to read about your pets and to get to know their „personalites“. He is very mindful and considerate of really getting to know an animal. If you could share your piggies stories with him, it would be for him as exiting as any bestseller could be.

Maybe you would even like to take a picture, while your pets get a treat on the special occasion of Sebastians birthday.

That is up to you.

It would take only 10 minutes of your time to snap a pic of your piggies and write a few lines about them and post it.

So with relatively little effort, you can light up the heart of a suffering person.

YOU CAN REALLY MAKE A DIFFERENCE HERE. To me, this is very special.

Please consider if you can spare the time and energy for it, and if you are able to, please help.

Ps. Excuse my poor English.

We are allowing this request on the forum for @Honiglamm after a few amendments.

This is Cookie & Treacle, they are both now across the Rainbow Bridge but were our first two 'rescue' guinea pigs. Cookie on the left was very adventurous and cheeky. Treacle was a very lazy piggy and could often be found lying down eating with her head in the food bowl.
This photo is what we used to see at tea times

This is my neutered boar. He lives with 6 sows and is very contented. He is a laid back guinea pig and spends a lot of time rumblestrutting and showing the sows what a beautiful lad he is.

Meet Cufflinks (officially called Caramel)!

This is Blitzen. He's a sneaky food thief and doesn't really like people But people feed him, and he likes his food, so he tolerates people...mostly by letting them feed his buddy so he can steal his buddy's dinner. He likes to rumble, play in his hay, and is really a very quiet piggy, not much of a wheeker. He despises being groomed and likes to bite people at the vet when they trim his nails.

Well it goes without saying, it has to be Captain Jack who makes an appearance on this thread.

One eyed Jack was rescued from a pet store because no one wanted him, was living alone, they said he didn't mix well with others, white with pink eye and well he was clearly over looked.

Jack lives with his two wives, Florence & Anthea who are also rescues and came from a nice place in Stoke on Trent.
Jack is quite a character, he's cheeky, always sticks his head out of his hutch when I open the door and prefers to get to the food bowl and choose from the a la carte menu before his wives - he doesn't have any manners at all.

He's getting old now so enjoys a comfortable bed at night time, has expensive taste in hay, loves his porridge oats and loves a good rumble on the grass in ice weather.

TOFFEE is six years old and a permanent resident at our rescue, an unwanted child’s pet. She has lots of tumours, ovarian cysts and lumps and bumps but is a sweet girl who loves a cuddle and a snuggle sack to sleep in. She doesn’t get on with Ruby.

FUDGE is Toffee’s sister and is also six years old, full of life and loves her food! She has lovely long hair and likes a cheeky but gentle nibble on your fingers! Loves her cuddly toy Mr Monkey.

RUBY is another permanent resident at our rescue and is again around six years old. She came with her sister Sky who has unfortunately since passed over The Rainbow Bridge to Heaven. Yet another unwanted child’s pet. She loves her food and loves a cuddle but is very shy in her cage and doesn’t like being picked up.

They are the result of a surprise shop litter. I didn't know that Mum Velvet

Was hiding a surprise when I bought her and her best mate Betsy.

Velvet is top sow and never lets the others get out of line she is one feisty lady who loves her cuddles but hates being picked up. Betsy is just beautiful. She has a lovely personality and is very friendly except when in season when she is PYSCHO piggy! Christian is the rumblestrutter of the boys and likes to show off his sexy bum wiggle to the girls to show them what a handsome boar he is and also to Dennis to show off. Nobody takes any notice of Christian but it doesn't stop him from trying! Dennis is one chilled out boy. He is so laid back he is almost horizontal! Meg is a timid girl who hates being on her own. If she can't see any of the others she is calling for them.

This is Elsa and her babies Tiana, Olaf, and Kristoff. We got Elsa and Anna from a pet store and Elsa must have gotten pregnant before we got her. The babies were born in February and Elsa is a wonderful mother!64BC07F0-F0F6-495A-ADE4-EC2E41D85749.webp Here is Tiana now, she has the sweet disposition of her mother!A8438CC5-9823-4CC1-A84D-DCE7DBB4E7E3.webp Kristoff and Olaf are turning into sweet boys, the rumble-strutting is almost constant as they are just separated from the girls by bars. It is really cute to see them try to act like grown ups and impress the ladies!5F25D8BF-2701-4D8A-8CC0-B4087CFB7B72.webp Anna is the piggie on the left, she is a hyper one unless she is with my 5 year old daughter, then it is all cuddles and sweetness!4F2CD619-90DB-4FBB-BF0A-83EDDDFDDC3C.webp

This is Gracie with our chihuahua, Bella. She was our first rescue and is my daughter's. She is around 7 months old here and is the reason my husband and I got our guinea pigs. She now owns my daughter's room and we call her Gracie the fearless. She is extremely clear in what she wants, loves attention and can't get along with any other guinea pigs but plays all the time with my son's cat and our 2 chihuahuas. She has grown so much and is close to the size of Bella here now.

This was Gracie around the same time frame just after Christmas. My daughter is always with her or she's sitting with my husband so we weren't able to get more recent ones. She has only become more confident in her ownership of us as a family every day with a personality that's huge :-).

IMG_20180318_153803.webp These two are of my first baby, Pippin. She is sweet and very docile. She is not shy but instead very relaxed and trusting from the moment we brought her home. Both my husband and I love to hold her for some time each day and she loves this as well. Many times I have her cuddled completely relaxed on my stomach for an hour or two. She will stretch out without problems and sleep. She is also the one that will welcome any other animal; whether it's the cat, our chihuahuas or another guinea pig. She is truly all sweetness.
IMG_20180318_153747.webp

This is our little rascal, Pumpkin. She is extremely peppy and happy. Most times you can walk in the room and see a furball popping up and down in the air repeatedly and at a high velocity, truly. She is extremely energetic, full of life and always popcorning around the pen. There isn't one shy bone in her body and she is a delight. When we pick her up and hold her, she will run straight up to your neck and greet you nose to nose. while I can't ever get a good pic of her, I get a good, close look at her when we are holding her; she comes up to us boldly as if she is inspecting us :-). She has been the perfect best friend and housemate for Pippin as she is relentless in getting our sweet Pippin to play with her. I never saw Pippin run or 'popcorn' until Pumpkin (fondly nicknamed 'Punk-in' by my daughter) joined her and made her move. IMG_20180320_123701.webp

Chutney is the chocolate&tan pig. He's 6 sometime this year, and a bit of a grumpy boy at times. Likes food and not much else. Fairly quiet, but good at begging for food.

Sprout's the black self. He's 1 year old, and is a nutcase (to put it politely!) Loud, opinionated and won't stop wheeking until he gets what he wants. Popcorns like mad when it comes to out of cage play time.

Oh, you sweet piggies and people! I just printed the thread out for Sebastian. I am not feeling well myself today, but I am so moved and overwhelmed by your effort. I feel ten times better, than an hour ago. Well how could't I, if these fine British piggies and their owners are so incredibly endearing? I wonder, if some of the pets above are from Scotland, Wales, or Northern Ireland, or which could be guineapigs from England, maybe Cornwall, Oxford or London. They all radiate the uniqueness and kindness, that I found in your fellow countrymen, in my short travels to Great Britain. I love the country so much, that although due to my financial problems, that come with being ill, I saved all my money to travel to Great Britain three times in the last seven years. I guess that is weird, I have no connection to GB whatsoever. But at least now, knowing all the piggies who live there, I had to love it. Warmest greetings to you fine creatures. I will update you tomorrow, maybe Sebastian himself will do that, but since he is so weak, I don't know, if it will be possible. Thank you. THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART. Have a wonderful weekend! Yours, Astrid from Germany. (Ps. I didn't choose your forum because of my anglophilia, you were the only foreign forum, who wanted to help.)
