to look after your guinea pigs? Or to put it another way, do you have a friend that you would trust to look after your piggies?
I have only two friends who know anything about small pets, and only one of them has ever had guinea pigs. Friend A has always kept rabbits so knows about hay and veggies, etc. But she lets her rabbits run loose in her garden. If she came to look after my piggies, I would be worried that she would let them loose in the garden, too. And piggies are better at finding holes than rabbits. Also I am not sure if she and her husband actually watch over their rabbits when they are loose in the garden. Friend B had piggies when she was much younger, so she knows all about the importance of Vit C and which veggies are good for pigs, etc. Also, I know that she would obey any instructions given re; the care and handling of my pigs. I know they would be safe and well-cared for with her.

There is one I would trust, and a few others who are possibilities but none are local to me sadly. It sounds to me like friend B may be a better option?

Luckily we have @MerryPip around the corner for short breaks etc.. and use Teejay's boarding for long holidays - but forgot what they are lol I can trust my Mum also. There is no one else I would trust out of my friends apart from Merrypip

I would opt for friend B and give them strict instructions

I have a friend thats had my girls before for a week and trusted her fully as shes had two pigs in the past. Her 3 year old is very good with them also, loves cuddles but knows never to lift them, just stroking.
I have another friend thats a vet nurse, and i met her as we used to work together. She has her own boarding kennels/pet sitting/ dog walking/ pet ambulance business! I am away for a weekend next month and am contemplating my girls going there due to my heart piggy being on meds and diuretics, and obviously she understands the use of them and doses etc. my only worry is its a farm/country house and gets really cold at night, and they wouldnt get much if any free range time as they have cats.

I dont have any other options as my parents arent confortable handling the girls let alone medication.

Was hoping to find somewhere but worried about trusting other small pet boarding services as i dont know them! :(

i have 1 or 2…but that would be followed with strict instructions…and thats if dad couldn't cope who i live with also.
ide say friend B.

no one local , thought there are a cople of piggy people that l could call on in an emegancy

I'd go for friend B unless you can find a good local boarding service.

I have one friend I would definitely trust to look after them but I know for a fact she wouldn't want to so I would never ask. She's extremely smart and very to the rule so she'd follow any guidelines I left strictly. I know if it was an emergency she would but she'd prefer not to as she's not a huge fan of animals other than cats. She also lives in America so too far :))

I also know another person I met recently whose mother is just as obsessed with guinea pigs as I am and I think I could trust her but I wouldn't dare to leave mine with hers because she does breed and I worry about my boys getting upset around the females.

i am lucky that my parents are coming to stay when we go away for two weeks... i will be skype calling them every day to check on the piggies though as they have never really looked after them much, only for one weekend so i will be typing out FULL instructions for them to follow ! it is hard to find someone you trust.. i wouldn't know who else to ask if not for my parents..
