Hi, I'm new here but in desperate need for advice! I picked my 8 week old boar up to give him a cuddle and noticed a lump. On closer inspection he has a big gaping wound on his shoulder thats weeping foul smelling gunge :(
He must have got it when he and my other boar were fighting the other day. I checked him at the time (they have been separated!) but didn't see it :(
What should I do? I have cleaned it with salt water and he will be at the vets tommorow. What else can I do for him?
Thankyou x

Sounds like an abscess from a bite...try and squeeze all the puss out, and keep washing as you are until you get him to a vet

Youve done the right thing. Washing with salt water is the best homecare. Try to flush and sqeeze out any excess puss if you can manage and then the vet will see him tomorrow. He will probably have some antibiotics to go home with.

x.

It sounds like a burst abscess. Squeeze it out daily and keep it open for as long as possible to prevent it from filling up again. Wash with saline solution (1 pint of boiled, cooled water with 1 tsp of salt stirred in).

Have it seen by a vet tomorrow, please.

He saw the vet today :) he's on antibiotics for 10 days and cleaning his wound daily too.
