I've just been doing my finances and it turns out I have spent just over £1,000 on vet bills in the last year  That doesn't include additional stuff such as fibreplex, critical care, ivermectin etc. I don't think I'll add up the food and bedding costs...I might have a heart attack! :))

Haha I know the feeling with vet bills. People laugh when I say I spend more on the guineas vet bills than on the dog.
However I dont think they actually believe me!

If someone asks me how much I spend on my pets- I just say probably a lot less than they do on their kids or drink or smoking etc.

I'm too afraid to add it up though. They're my hobbies &umm cough relaxation. So worth every penny no matter what it costs. They're my motivation for working.

Xx

It can get crazy can't it? If your pigs are healthy you can sail through with the cost of their upkeep, but get one with a recurring problem or one requiring investigations and/or an op then it soon clears you bank account! :) And I've found all but two of mine (out of 7) have needed vet treatment, one of whom had two operations and investigations, so I tend to think they're potentially the most expensive rodent you can have!

i agree, they are defiantly more expensive than dogs ! July is always expensive for me as all 3 of their birthdays are then :)

They are like milliondollar pets :)) I dread to think how much they cost - but worth every penny.

I was shocked when I took my piggie to the vet for an eye infection. £45 quid for some eye drops and a consultation :o . I wasn't bothered as my piggies were part of the family.

My piggies are absolutely worth every penny . Its weird how they can go ages without any problems, and then it is several hundreds of pounds over a few months!

Every time I go to stock up on stuff, I typically spend £50-£100, perhaps once a month? As for veggies? Goodness knows! But I wouldn't have it any other way

Yes, but you do have the best vet ever! x

Yes, Simon&Kim are amazing vets! And fantastic value for money, hence why I travel so far to see them! My local vet once charged me £22 to wash Glinda's chin after Rose bit her; no medications, just a quick look in her mouth and a wash with some cotton wool!

Lol l beleve it was a few years a go somone handed in a pig in a right state (i had already been in twice that week ), and my vet comented quote l could by a new car with the mony you spend hear

:hmm:it could have been Jake, the pig that was so riddled with mites he looked like a skiny pig
