I decided to start asking around for bargain veg and help with costs for the rescue as they are spiralling up and up! So I went to my local market and WOW!! I had a word with the guy who runs the fruit and veg stall there and he has done me an amazing deal.

If I go at the end of the day on a saturday, so about 3.30pm, he will give me loads of veg and 20kilos of carrots.

So on Saturday after everyone had gone from my daughters party I drove down there and I couldn't believe my eyes. He had the 20kg of carrots I had ordered and 2 10kg sacks of other veg for me. I paid £5 for both sacks of carrots and the rest was free!!

After my hubby and I spent 30mins sifting through the rubbish veg and binning it there was loads left, even some sprouts for our sunday lunch lol.

Just sharing incase it could help anyone else x

Superb now that's how to get a good deal way to go hun. :(|)

congrats my mum used to get veggies from the market from my rabbits!

I could do with a bit of that - my 10 cost a fair bit!

Wow, what a lot of mouths to feed, it must cost an awful lot!

Great idea asking at the market. 8) Do you have somewhere you can get a bargain on hay as well? I can't even guess how much of it you must get through with 30 guineas and the rest!
