I'm treating the gang for mites at the moment using xeno 450. Everybody is fine except for Midge who has become quiet and abit lethargic. I have searched on-line for side effects and it says there aren't any ( I find this a bit strange). Has anybody any comments/ ideas concerning possible side effects or piggies individual reactions to this treatment. Thanks.

Did you give the right dose...?
Pigs bigger than 800g should have a 450 and smaller than 800g should have a 50...
Other than that... Which is just a thought...
I can't think of any reason why they would have a reaction to xeno....
I would probably phone the vets if she is lethargic and that...

Thanks for the quick reply, Midge weighs in at just under 1300g. Just thinking about the last 24 hours we did catch her licking Panda's fur. Don't know whether that would have any bearing on her behaviour or fingers crossed she could be just having a lazy day. She is still eating and drinking as normal.

Oh bless her...
Just keep an eye on her input and out put... ;)
She might be having a quiet day or she could be feeling a bit under the weather and it's completely un related to the xeno...
Hope she's okay... :...

Hope shes ok. I cant imagine it being the xeno. The only effects ive seen have been local skin reactions on a rabbit. In fact i think on the box it says that pigs of her weight even need more. (although i wouldnt right now if shes feeling a bit down)

x.

None of my guineas have shown side effects to XENO 450 but if you are concerned get her checked by vet. Only thought I had was whether the treatment is taking effect and she Is feeling more comfortable.

A quick up date on Midge, she's back to normal or as normal as Midge can be. :)) It seems that she was having a quiet day. I will monitor her closely when she has the next 2 doses just to see if it was the xeno or coincidence. Thanks for all the replies.

Good idea to keep a close eye on her in future.

I've not experienced any reactions to Xeno myself but one of my dogs had a very obvious reaction to a spot on frontline spot-on once (possibly twice thinking back) and we stopped using it.

Good to hear Midge is back to her normal-ish self :)
