Hi guys,

As I mentioned in my last thread my boys have recently been treated with Xeno 50. How long does it take to kill the live mites? My boys are still itching just as much!

Sorry to keep posting on this, just thought it'd be useful to gain some idea of what to expect with this treatment.

Thank you

It can take a few days to kill the mites off. You need to repeat the treatment at least twice after a 10 day intervall to kill as many eggs as possible.

Once a piggy has had mites, they can make a comeback whenever the imuune system is lowered through stress or illness, so it good to always have some xeno handy. When your boys are older and heavier, you switch to xeno 450 for adult piggies over 800g. Once you learn to spot the signs you can treat early on and it is not a big deal.

I found the second dose to have the most noticeable effect on my pigs. It helps to bath them around 2 days after their final dose too. :)
