Just wondering at how much I could be looking at for Sky at the vets tomorrow. He is having an xray and possibly a operation if stones are present.

Vets vary hugely from place to place, and even within the same town. When you go tomorrow, you'll sign a consent form to consent to leaving him for treatment. There should be a full estimate given at this time.

Hope all goes well for Sky tomorrow and hope its not a stone. Let us know how he gets on x

It depends on the length of time surgery takes, amount of meds needed etc too. We had to have surgery on Bertie when he was a baby to remove a massive abscess. It took longer than expected as it was so deep & ended up costing us £400. This on the same day we had GA for bloods & xray on another pig too... ouch!

I'd have your credit card to hand just in case. Even with an estimate, things can change unexpectedly & this alters the cost.

Hope all goes well for Sky tomorrow & the cost is not too bad.

The cost depend on the vet as well as the length/complications he encounters during the op. I have paid over £200 for Cariad's unexpected 11mm stone last October, but I must say that she has come round amazingly well, considering she was 4 years and only 700g at the time of her op.

Fingers firmly crossed!
