So i spoke to my mom about a pair of piggies, and from a straight blank NO, i've got her to a 'i'll see' She said, no that adds tothe cost, andi said, no i'd use my dinner money (£40 a month) I'll happily walk up the shop to get veggies, food, and everything like i do with my animals now anyway! :)) As soon as i show her the money, and where the C&C cage would go, she'll say yes :)
now its just the impossible task of saving £200 pounds up D: Ive attempted twice and failed, but ive decided ive got almost a whole year yet! I was saving up every £10 for 3 weeks - but then what am i to do on weekends to go out if my mom or dad can't give me any? So ive decided, every other week is better for me, because atleast that means i still have money for things for me at weekends or to go shopping or whatever :) Its going to take a while - maybe til next year, as in the holidays i won't be getting that £10 a week :/
I still want them, so we'll see, when i actually have the money saved up, if it ends up being that i can't get them anymore, or dont have the time i still have a nice £200 to splash! - Or put in my bank thingy ;D

It's good that things are looking hopeful. What are you saving the £200 for, have you perhaps made a list of stuff you will need, that sounds an awful lot? Also, what are your other animals that you mention? C & C cages are not really suitable for homes with some other pets as they are so accessible. It's not enough to think that you will keep a door shut. Family pets have a way of getting into rooms. If you are saving up for so long though, you will have bags of time to research and plan. xx

Oh I'm adding a roof to the C&C, i want to give them as much space as possible :) and have decided to just have it on the floor so it won't be raised, because then i have to buy another pack of grids, which will cost me alone £44- £60
Oh and I'm decorating the room, and i need it to be done before i get the pigs so the paint fumes won't bother them - and thats what the extra money for them is :) I done a checklist last night, anything else i forgot?

1. 23 Cubes & Connectors
2. Coroplast or Lino
3. Water Bottle
4. Pellets
5. Hay
6. Veggies
7. Pigaloos ;D
8. Toys
9. Drawers (For the hay and just bits&bobs for them, I'm a very organised teenager and plus i wont have the storage underneath now :)))

If you are eventually getting your guinea pigs from a rescue, I would continue with the food that they have been fed there. x

if you have a look in the food section you will see review on most food types. but as nutmeg say's if they come from a rescue carry on feeding them that food.

i buy my hay from animal magic pet supplies.

toys are really cheap mine love cardboard boxes with or without hay and paper bags with hay in. they dont really play with toys as such.

i found the most expensive part is the veggies but i have 9 of them!

where will you be getting your grids from?

B&Q - there on offer atm, for £22, for 23 grids, but original price is £30 - but next week when i have the money i might buy them very, very early :)) just so i dont miss the offer :)
And yeah were going to look at the local rescues, the closest RSPCA's always seem to have pigs in!

I got my girls from a rescue and they gave me a fair bit of food and what I did was mix a little bit of the food I brought each time I fed them so they got used to the new food with no upset tummies etc. I get meadow hay from wilkinsons and the girls seem to love it.

Just an idea but maybe you could do some work to get the funds together as well, like a paper round or in the holidays washing cars or doing housework for family and friends. That will make it easier to raise the funds for the pets and also still give you the freedom to go out. I used to have a paper round (back in my day it was £5 per week but I'm assuming its a fair bit more now) I had to stop because of having physio on my knee and not being able to walk far so my mum paid me £5 per week to do the family ironing. Not the most fun in the world but its always nice getting some extra cash.

Good luck with the saving

Thanks everybody :)

And i forgot bedding or fleece (not sure yet, we'll see!)

I do want a paperround but sadly theres none avalible around here :(And atm my parents dont have the money to give me money for jobs(i do them all with no pay :^-) ;) But I'm alright - that £10 dinner money is fine forme, because i keep it, so its like pocket money, the food at school is a pile of.... so i wouldnt buy anything anyway, and plus like i said - i won't be getting them for ages yet, need my sister to move out (yn) this year! ;D
