Hello! I am slightly worried.
after eating a couple pieces of yellow bell pepper, my boar seems to be having orangish/rusty urine. Other than a few spots after eating the pepper he seems fine. Normal urine, normal poos. And is very active and eats and drinks.
the urine isn’t always darker and normally clears up after no veggies for a day.
what to do?

If it's orangish/rusty in the cage it may just be that the urine has oxidised, which is nothing to worry about; I would just keep an eye on him. If the urine is coming out discoloured it would be worth a vet trip in case he has the beginnings of a UTI. Either way I would think it unlikely the yellow pepper is having any effect on the urine, but you could just feed him red or green pepper in the meantime.

Hi, I cant see how there can be a link between yellow bell pepper and urine... beetroot can sometimes cause pink pee but never heard anything about peppers... if you are at all worried about your piggie's urine a vet check is needed, they can test it on the spot for blood or protein that might suggest an infection, but possibly as @Helen82 says the urine has just oxidised!

Hi!

Urine discolours the longer it is in contact with air; it oxidises. As long as the puddle is all the same colour of rust, there is nothing to worry about.

Blood has got a different specific weight to pee and doesn't really mix. Small amounts show up as small red (or in older pees brown) dots in the middle of the pee puddle (which is still orange to rusty coloured), large amounts as distinct reddish or brownish ring that is not just a darker tone of rust. ;)

Hi! Hope all is well. If it helps I found this picture online that I just have on my phone to refer to if I was ever worried

This is what it looks like.

It doesn't look to have the characteristics of blood in urine but it does look dark. I would be inclined to pop along to a vet for a health check and get everything checked out just to be sure

Update. We have an appointment Thursday. But upon observing him go potty , both wee and poop came out normal , clear wee at first. And normal solid poops. I’m a hoppy piggy mommy, but we are stopping for a vet checkup just to be safe.
