Noticed tonight that Lottie's eyelids looked more red than usual, so I checked her over, eyes look fine perhaps the hair near it is irritating her as she's a sheltie, but I noticed she has yellow bumps around her left ear on the same side where her eye is red, there seems to be a large lump inside the ear that looks like a big build up of hard wax, or is this something else? I'm not willing to touch the inside of her ears, I just want to know if I should have a vet look at it and perhaps clean it, maybe some ear drops, or is this a normal thing? I'm sorry I couldn't get a better photo, she wouldn't sit still and the flash made everything too bright, you can still kind of see the yellow bump I'm talking about, lots of other bumps around her ear and on the outside too. Thanks in advance :)

My pigs ears get a bit dirty sometimes, and I'll give them a quick wipe. If there was a lot of build up, like with your piggy I'd take them for a vet check up.

They don't really like having their ears messed with so I'd probably get vet help the first time.

Iv never cleaned my pigs ears and never had any dirty ears, infections or problems in 7 years.
But after my youngest sows bath the other day I noticed her ears where filthy! It was soft and light brown waxy material, I cleaned the outter ear gently with a cotton pad and that was that. Ofcourse I went no where near the ear canal and it looked clean.

Guinea pigs do have kind of flappy/knobbly bits in their ears. If it's not that and it's not soft the id have the vet check her. If it's a lump of actual flesh u don't want to go around prodding it.

If there's no discharge or smell I wouldn't think it's an infection but I would definately have it looked at :-)
