Hello so I was on vacation and i got back today so i got my mom to watch my guinea pigs (that has nothing to do with it but) I was about to say goodnight to both my piggy’s and decided to hold them but when i got to my guinea pig named pumpkin I noticed he had a yellowy thing on his lower lip it is crusty and I don’t know what it is everyone is asleep and i have just been holding him not knowing what to do so pls help me asap and i can’t got to the vet right now so...help me

Guinea pigs can get mouth sores (cheilitis). Its possible that that is what it is, although, we can’t say for sure. He will need to see a vet.

Anything of concern needs veterinary treatment. I am afraid there is no way to properly diagnose and treat without seeing a vet when you can.
I’m afraid the photo isn’t clear enough.

Ok I will try to go to the vet as soon as i can and also I could try to get a better photo.

If you can get a better photo that's fine but as piggies&buns say we can't diagnose, only a vet can do that. If it is cheilitis then veterinary care is essential as it is an infection and will need medication

Ok i will try my best to take him to the vet this week. thank you for helping me ☺️

Sorry you in a panic.
Try to be calm and you notice this now.
If that was my piggie and I'd look on this forum for ideas and course and i defo take Pumpkin to the vets. Hope you can asap.

That's ok, it's what we are here for. Do you know of local vets that treat piggies? If you let us know what area you are in we might be able to point you in the right direction. Cheilitis isn't a life or death emergency so it can wait a couple of days until you get an appointment. Please stop feeding any acidic foods in the meantime - all fruits and tomatoes - as these can make it worse

Cheilitis is a bacterial infection where bacteria gets in to tiny cracks. It can also be caused by feeding too acidic fruit such as tomato’s apples and citrus fruits so as above. Please stop feeling those.

You will need treatment and possibility an antibiotic which only a vet can prescribe and diagnose.

I hope you can get him to the vet within the next few days
