Yet another new piggy palace for the pigs!

Now that Mabel loves Fin I decided I needed to change the C&C yet again! I had a double storey before with Fin on the top and the girls on the bottom, and since the bonding went well they were all living on the top level. I was originally going to make a ramp between the two levels but then I thought this would be difficult to clean out and really it wasn't ideal because the cage did block some of the window (i couldn't reach to pull the blind down/up or to open the window very well mallethead) so now they have a one level 5x2 C&C. They love it and Fin and Mabel were doing laps this morning whizzing around :)) in time I think I might add a hay loft as originally Mabel and Dottie had this and loved it. I'll just step into the cage to work the blind and window!:))

Anyhow what do you think?

That looks great. I am so happy the finally bonded. It is such brilliant news. :)
 
Question! On the picture where you have two floors, how did you get the higher floor to stay stable? I tried this with mine but it buckled and didn't seem very sturdy at all until I put grids underneath but that then cut into their floor space! So it didn't really work for me.

Both look great though!

I used an incredible amount of cable ties and it seemed to be ok!
 
It looks great, I think you will have 3 happy piggies! More pigtures please?! :))

Thank yooou, it's lovely to give them the extra room! The change in their behaviour really goes to show exactly why piggies should not be in a small cage! I think mine should have bigger than this really :))
 
That is brilliant, good leg room for zooming and popcorning - and alone time if they so desire x)

Loving it! and its soo great they are all friends now, mabel was playing hard to get i have nothing but respect for her, a piggie that knows what/who she wants and when! :))
 
This is interesting as I have 3 piggles & am seriously considering redesigning the whole C & C thing again as at the moment mine is a 5 x 2 but in a "T" shape to fit my round window, however it is awkward to clean really rolleyes I could move their cage into the other end of our dining room but there isn't as much light there which is why I put it in the window in the first place. Do they need a lot of natural light as it wouldn't be easy to just move it around all the time? Trouble is I have made cage liners to fit so would have to make lots more :))

I always thought that Dottie was the piggy with such a big personality, but after seeing Mabel during this bonding process i've changed my mind :)) I had them all out for cuddles last night and when I put Finley back into the cage Mabel instantly groomed him and then proceeded to follow him around everywhere, oh how the tables have turned :)):))!

I remember your cage, it's great! I'm sure they would still get some light at the other end of the room? I guess in one way it would actually be better at that end for when the summer comes or they might get too hot under the window? I did remember reading somewhere that you shouldn't put the cage under the window due to drafts but I had no other choice as the cage wouldn't go anywhere else! Plus we have good double glazing and there aren't any drafts but I did need to be careful in the summer and had the blind down the whole time. The only other positive I could think of is that if you made it like mine they might be able to whizz around it a little easier?! But i'm sure they are probably managing to do that in the t-shape too! It's tricky when you make it in a shape that's hard to clean out, but i'm sure you could make some more fab cage liners! :)):))

Well the window isn't a problem, our house faces East/West so it only gets direct sunlight in the early morning, there are blinds & they are fully double glazed units so no draughts. OH always moans about me having the blinds down as it makes the room dark so we hitch them up around midday when the sun has moved around to the front of the house. The advantage is that when it is warm in the summer, we can open the top windows so the piggies would get some air. A 5 x 2 could be moved back there but because of the window shape (round) it would stick out a mile. There are a few bits of furniture up the other end of the room too which would need rehoming rolleyes

:)) sure you could find a home for the furniture rolleyes post some pics if you do change it around!:))

What a fantstic setup, so pleased it has worked out for your gorgeous girls and the dashing Finley! Looking forward to more pigtures in the future!
