Foxie-and-Angelina

Hi, I am new to the forum and I have a question about one of our guinea pigs.

We are new gp owners and I'm concerned that one, Foxie, is very underweight. The two females get along fine and I see her eating, and she seemed to suddenly gain weight a few weeks ago, but she just seems way too skinny. Today she looked like she was shaking a little bit. She still "purrs" when I pet her. I suspected that the other one was hogging all the food so now I separate them to make sure the little one gets enough. I'm feeding pellets and hay and lots of varied veggies every day. I thought maybe I could fatten her up with fruit but she prefers red leaf lettuce (also celery, cucumbers, carrot...).

We got her around 6 weeks ago I noticed she had what looked like a hair sticking out of her eye. When we got her home, I got hold of the "hair" and she jerked, and I pulled out a pretty large foxtail (hence the name "Foxie" ). I kept an eye on her for a couple days and her eye turned clear and everything seemed fine but now I'm thinking maybe she's been "sickly" from the get go ?

Also, out of curiousity... I saw some timothy hay at the pet store with marigolds so I gave the guinea pigs a couple small marigolds from our yard (no spray) - is that OK? They liked it.

Welcome.
How heavy is Foxie and how old is she?
I would play safe and not give her marigolds.

What are you feeding alongside the hay? I have herd complan and carnation milk wixed with water is good for putting weight on. Also Maybe consider treating her with panacur
