as the title says really, what is the youngest age a sow can be housed with a neutered boar? ive just found out a friend has a litter of 5 sows, and she said if i want i can have 1 to bond with my 2 sows and newly neutered boar so she can rehome the other 4 in pairs. they were born last night/this morning, so once Boris has done the next 6 weeks after his op, i was thinking of rather than straight away bonding him with the 2 girls, bonding him with the new baby sow and then bonding them as 2 pairs after that. what do you think? they will be sharing a 14ft x 2ft hutch, and have run time on the grass too when the weather is nice.

I really do think it depends on the male.

My Mickey is so laid back I would bond him with a 6 week old sow, he wouldn't bother about her at all, and would probably look after her more than my others sows would.

But some boars can pester and chase the girls until things settle down, in this case I would wait until she was older.

Personally I would bond the male with your 2 sows, you'll see how he reacts to them, and then add in the baby.

my neutered boar billy accepted toffee at just a few weeks old and treated her like a daughter no humping just looked out for her. now almost a year later and still no humping he rlol.

but i do think it depends on the boy.

ah, il wait and see what happens. i have a spare hutch for the new girls to start with once boris goes in with penny and nancy anyway :)
