I have three almost 6 week old guinea pigs. I was wondering if they’re too young for getting their nails clipped? It would just be the tips of their nails to make them less sharp. Another way is I could use the small animal nail file I have and see if they’ll sit still. Is it okay to try cutting their nails at such a young age?

I think it’s fine to just snip the sharp
tip off. The earlier they get used to their feet being touched the better too!

Please make sure that you do not cut too close to the quick and take into account that feet may retracted very suddenly.
I would not recommend to cut nails at this young age with scissors or a clip.

Just the answer I was looking for, I wanted to gently file the nails on my 2 - they are using the sharp points to mountaineer - and they are faster than I am. Ziggy managed to get inside my dressing gown this morning while I was trying to put her in the nebuliser.
