I'm now hunting for pics of my FIRST guineapig... So I will make a proper post on here... In the emantime, I have found some wedding photos I'll scan and post on FB tonight!

I am relatively new to guinea pigs. We adopted Connie in November 2007. She was 18 weeks old.

2 days later, I felt guilty for leaving Connie on her own so I had Eliza too

After a long battle with bladder problems, Connie gave up the fight and we sadly lost her in April this year.

We then adopted Eleanor as a companion for Eliza and here they both are

I only started having piggies last year in march, I started the year with none, finished with five!

Anyways, my first piggies were Pheobe and Ruby. My word they have taught me so much! I've still got both of them and they're both going to be two on the 1st of february next year! I can't believe they're almost two! How time flies!

Most of you know that Pheobe had an operation last friday, worried me so much. I suddenly realised how much they meant to me, I mean, I knew they meant the world to me, but suddenly the thought that I may actually lose my BeeBee and how my other girls would feel, I couldn't believe how I could put her through an op because of a couple of lumps that maybe nothing, I felt so cruel. But thankfully she came through it and Pheobe and I have now got an extra special bond. The evening after her op, I just held her for hours wrapped in a towel. She was fast asleep and very whoozy, but she knew I was there for her. I thought she was going to die in my arms, but I couldn't put her down. In the end I held her over night and gave her food and drink as needed. She was so sleepy, but she made me proud and she's got her 10 day check on monday!

I think most know my first piggy was Boris,He has now gone to rainbow bridge.
We got him from a petstore(before knowing better) and my OH thought Boris wanted to run on top of the petshop cage which was rather high,Boris fell off the edge which resluted in a broken back,
he had a splint fitted and all was going well and we though he would walk again, due to the splint he developed a fungal infection, then it went internal and he also got bumblefoot(due to inactivity) which spread and caused blood posioning,he was also having fits repeatedly due to the fungal infection so i had no choice but to put him to sleep.
We had him for 3 months and he was terribly sick the whole time,it didnt help that i had a vet who knew basics and no specialised piggy care, his biggest helprs were his aunty Laura,Glynis and Wiebke among many others, this forum means so much to me for that reason as i would never have met half of you otherwise.
I feel horrible about what he went through to this day but what i do feel that is good is that i loved Boris as much as i could ever love another being,he was everything to me and i miss him like crazy.
At least now i know better with piggies!

aww I'm welling up now

That has just brought tears to my eyes Bonnie as I can remember what a fighter he was. I too agree with Audrey that I didn't realise that he had his accident at the pet shop :(

I bet him and my Connie are playing along with all the other past piggies at Rainbow Bridge xx

Ok, I'm ready (no pic as yet)...

My first piggy was called Ninon, but we all called her Mimi because there's a children's book character called Mimi-Cracra who's always naughty and always gets dirty (cracra) and boy, was my Mimi a filthy pig!
I got her when I was 9 (in yr4) to replace a goldfish whose name I cannot recall. She had been bred by my godfather's nan who used to keep piggies by her rabbits, it is popular belief that it stops bunnies getting mixomatosis.
She (Mimi, not the nan) was tri-coloured, smooth, mainly white with a brown patch on one eye and a black one on the other. She broke a toe between the slats of the parquet floor but you'd have never known she was 'disabled' unless she was scratching with her bad leg.
At about 4 yrs old, she was given freedom of the kitchen and was often spotted by my dad's ankles in the morning, looking in the fridge for food! She passed at the grand old age of 8 1/2.

When I find a pic, I'll post it on here...

Hi
My first piggie was a sow called Twinkle. She was the result of my friend and her sisters piggies getting jiggy behind a towel in the bathroom one day after school! thinking back it was not a clever thing to have done but we were only 10. Olive was Twinkle's mum and Norman was her dad.

She was a rosetted black piggie with white colouring.

Unfortunately I didn't know any better and she was kept on her own.:red
She was the best piggie. She would have the run of the garden and would come running from the flower beds when i called her and wait to be picked up. She would even climb the steps in the garden until she dislocted her shoulder one day.

She lived to be about 6yrs and a bit years old i think. was a while back so not 100%.

I used to take her in a basket on my bike down the road to see her mum when i went to see my friend. I'm cringing writting this but seemed a good idea at the time. Poor twinkle 8...

I now have my 2 baby boys rowdee and gavin. (Rowdee is in my avator)
