Your opinions on how this piggie was bathed?

I couldn't even watch all of that..

That is NOT funny.. the water is far too deep. Poor pig seemed frightened.

In trying to be neutral.. the owners didn't seem to think she was bothered.

Nah, sorry. The owners are choobs. >:(

hmm..she looks like quite a caring owner in the way she handles, but i would say that water it too deep, i fill up just past their feet i also hold them in my hands when washing them as they try to escape and its dagerous as they may break a foot trying to jump out when its wet.

I totally agree spudnik, I don't think you should have water past covering their feet. I also hold my pig and put a teatowel in the bottom of the sink to stop the scrabbling claws thing. I've seen a few of these 'swimming piggies' videos where the owners obviously adore their pigs and think they are giving their pigs a 'treat' but I personally don't like it.

I worry for piggies awffy :(

It looked a little deeper than I would have for any of mine. Most of mine try to get away like that one did. The one thing I would not of done is turned it over like they did to shampoo and dry the tummy.

I wouldnt have it that deep, and wouldnt have held my piggy up like that to get to the tum tum, but she obviously loves the piggy and handles it well! :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

Most of mine will try to run from the water ::) ;D

Thats what I thought about the water and all the loud laughing must have been scary but the woman did seem to love her piggie :-\

Just re-read my intitial reaction - I'm a bit ashamed now. I was already not in a great mood and feeling a bit anxious so shouldn't have posted 'knee-jerk'. Sorry everyone.

I do actually believe that when an owner genuinely loves, cares and wants to do the very best for their animals then they know best, and I get a bit uncomfortable when other people push 'I know better than you' opinions on others.

So whilst I do disagree with the level of water and worried about the laughing seeming a bit loud (and the tummy? My Cobweb would let me know what's what about that - there's no way he'd let me do that and I wouldn't want to!) the owner does obviously love the pig, and the pig was therefore in no danger (hopefully anyway - what about getting water in the ears?).

i think getting water in the ears of any animal is dangerous..when I'm bathing my dog i always do her face with a flannel so she doesnt get any water in her ears, and i just dont do my guineas head at all

I was thinking about water in the ears as well :( Good to hear your opinions, I wouldnt bath mine like that, in fact I hold them still while they are in the water and the level is about half way up their legs.

It's not the way i would bath any of mine but the lady did seem really caring & gentle in her handling of her piggy.
The water was too deep for me & the loud laughing from whoever just did my head in :)

I would never bath my piggy like that, she may seem like a caring owner but that piggy could slip and go under once the water has gone into its lungs all sorts of problems could arise. Also I like to rinse my piggies in clean water not reuse the stuff I already used.

Problems:
1) Water to deep. :(
2) You know something is wrong when your Guinea Pig vocalizes like that and tries to climb out of the sink 98)
3) Why are the owners laughing? That's not funny! :tickedoff:
4) around the 27 second mark, did you hear them joking about putting the poor cavy in a pool?
But It seems that the owners do care as most of the other things were done all right.

I put mine in the bath and dont put that much water in then i rinse them in the sink

mine just sit there and give you dirty looks

Wot about her swilling the piggy off under a running tap and wringing it out!

I think it was cruel - poor piggy :'(

I saw a bit of it. The pig didn't seem happy.

I have to say that Riffy loves quite deep water and settles down for a meditate in the bath. He never panics or struggles - if he did I wouldn't have the water so deep. I always supervise him thoroughly. When he is ready to come out he puts his hands on the side :smitten:

I have visions of Riffy laying on his back just floating around taking in the world or maybe even reading a book or two ;D ;D ;D

awww poor little thing, the water is way too deep, i aggree the owner seemed to adore her but thats not right. :(
i only have it just covering the bottom of their legs. poor thing looked frightened. and i wouldn't run it under the tap or put it on it's back. and the poor thing must be frightened of all that :'(laughing.

A bit too deep for my liking. I bath my pigs by putting them in the bath and the plug in, filling the sink with water and using a jug with just a splash of water in. That way the bath fills up just to their under bellies and they are comfortable with it. They love it that way!

I agree! I think it was him who would me up more than anything else! (apart from worrying about the far too deep water :-\ )

Riffy is the only one of my gang to thoroughly enjoy a bath. It's hard to get him out sometimes. He just loves the water. :smitten:

Oh my word. I found that VERY uncomfortable to watch :'( That poor pig looks petrified. The water seems far too deep to me and its just turning round in circles trying to escape. Thats not a happy piggie.

Seems off, cos the pig looks really healthy otherwise. Why would the owners film something like that. Not entertaining in the slightest :tickedoff:
