Our little boars have such fussy tastes when it comes to food (except Patches, who will eat ANYTHING including shoes left on the floor!)

I recently bought some Excel Oregano and Blackcurrant to spoil them, and the kind people at Supreme Petfoods sent me a sample of their Science Selective guinea pig food, so I've been mixing the two in their feed bowls. Our other little boy - Choccy ignores the Excel completely and picks out the Science Selective pellets before his cagemates even notice food has been put out, leaving the rest for them!

Sometimes I buy Romero peppers, which our other guinea pig, Mr. Clooney loves a little piece of, but the other two won't touch (they'll sniff and either walk away, or Choccy will clamber into the feedbowl and just pee on!)

I was just wondering whether your piggies have any particular preferences for dry food or veggies?

Mdluli LOVES piggy museli, Nala dosent mind it, I rarely see Sophie eat much of it at all!

Nala dosent touch tomato's, Sophie eats them like they are running out! Sophie LOVES red pepper and eats it like a crazy person, Mdluli wanders round taking little bites out of each bit of pepper lol, Nala dosent touch it!

None of them like sugar snap peas!

Nala only eats the outside skin on cucumber, Mdluli eats the outside and then the inside, Sophie just munches it lol! :)

Piggys have different personalities and likes and dislikes, Nala is the first piggy I have EVER had that likes chin tickles! :(|)

I have a boy called Patches too and he will also eat EVERYTHING! At the moment my two love watercress and coriander, they also really like the mixed bags of lettuce.

Tried them on blueberries last night, Patches ate one but Bubbles wasn't interested..

They definitely prefer fresh veg over dried food!

I have a girl named Lucy, she's exremely picky about about what she eats, I've read the kind of foods that guinea pigs are supposed to like, so far she hasn't really cared for anything other than carrots and cucumbers, apples and grapes. She adores carrots, would eat them 24/7, though I only really give them to her once every two days. Also now that it is winter, there's not such a big variety of fresh vegetables that I can give her. I haven't tried tomatoes yet, though I am planning to give her to try once we get some.

Podge and Loki like a variety of veg but will eat romaine lettuce and coriander until they explode given the chance.

Lol Choccy is very clever to do that! How funny Patches will eat shoes. You made me laugh at those two stories.

With my girls they go crazy for romaine lettuce and cucumber. Marble loves parsley and Peronel likes grapes. The rest do not really like anything other then the first two vegetables I mentioned.

I know :...:...

Because he spent most of his time free ranging around the house, his attitude was that if it was lying on the floor it was fair game to be chewed lol! Whenever people came round I had to tell them not to leave anything on the floor

He stayed with my sister while I was on holiday, and when I came home she told me that he had eaten her husbands flip flop!

Oh no! Hopefully he was ok though!

Patches is exactly the same! So far, he's chewed the chain of our blinds for our patio doors, flip flops and shoes. At Christmas, when we gave him floor time, he even chewed the edges of our presents under the tree, so they all had chunks taken out of the paper!

Our two's favourites are any peppers, Romaine, Kale, cherry toms, Parsley and sweetheart cabbage. I'm trying the mangetout and clerey at the mo but's it's a no go. I even tried to disguise two pieces of mangetout in the cabbage tonight but they weren't having any of it LOL! Oh they usually like a nibble on my slippers when I'm cleaning them out and Fudge started to eat the dustpan and the bristles on the brush last week!

It must be the name lol!

I too have a Patches (more often called Patchy) and he has yet to meet a veggie he doesn't like and will also eat anything left within nibbling reach - including the children's bible, several wires, my new book, the dining room table legs and a set of Christmas lights...

Genghis, Pollyanna, Marmite and Skittles love any fruit and veg they can eat, hay, and mix

Chequers is a bit fussy on mix. She doesn't like the flowery bit of brocolli and doesn't think much of carrot. She will eat cucumber, parsnip, baby corns, sprouts. But her favourite is good old fashioned hay.

All 5 piggies love cucumber, romaine and peppers - my 2 rescue pigs eat all veg and fruit as if it is their last ever meal - they are just so grateful - the other 3 have been spoilt since they were tiny when I got them and are fussy little blighters.

Red peppers are the first to disappear from the veggie bowl.... drool

Before going on strict diet (cause of diabetes) the other fav was any fruits and beetroot!

My smores loves any peppers, kale, apples, will occasionaly nibble a tiny baby carrot. Loves a nibble of bannana, but only gets that once every other week. Cucumbers a taken but seem to like the skin, more so than the middle. He likes broccoli stems, leaves the tops.
Choco eats anythimg he can get his piggy lips on...and especially goes after whatever smores has lol.

Yes,I have noticed something that another piggy is munching on is tastier than anything else that is on offer.

Bell pepper CRAZYYY xx

We have had Bloom for only a week now but apart from his pellats he goes mental for bell peppers he starts running around the living waiting for me to put them down, he loves carrot and cucumber ohh and fresh hay, but the reaction to the peppers is priceless, after only a week I wounder over time when he's more comfortable with us, if he will actually raid the fridge for them himself :)) LOL! xx

When I am preparing the little piggy food trays ( rolleyes ) I have an order and colour for each pair/group. So, for example the yellow tray is for Logan and Finn and I can put anything on theirs because they are piggy vacuums. :)) But the purple tray which belongs to Yogi and Bailey is slightly more fussy. They are not too keen on carrots or cucumber, so I have to substitute with something else or just put a small amount. :)
Am I the only really sad person that does this? With so many little mouths to feed I have to have a routine! ;)
