Yuck! Poor piggie Pip had an impaction that was disgusting, and I'd barely noticed ! We sorted him out though, and he's a clean pig now.

I always thought that impaction issues would be forever but my pig has not had to be cleaned for over a week now and he was badly impacted for several months so fingers crossed the same happens to your piggy xx. plenty of exercise does help with impaction issues xx

As someone, who had to feed the good stuff to my beloved little Shui for three years (he died in 2011) and is now a mummy to a paralysed pig (naturally resulting in feeding the good stuff yet again), I always thought it was a privilege to do the dirty deed for my babies. I will create an incredibly strong bond between you. It's like changing nappies really. You will have to check them daily, with Shui, we had to do it three times per day towards the end, he used to wake me up in the morning to get sorted and he enjoyed having his nose as close as possible to yhe stuff whilst he munched it. He also insisted on gromming my arm when he finished.

That's great, but rather unusual as the impaction is normally relsted to muscle weakness in the piggies bottom. My guineas are free running, so have plenty of exercise.

I've also had to deal with impaction issues with my oldest boar Caesar. I check him daily and do a thorough cleaning every Saturday morning. When i bought him from our local pet store he was so impacted he couldn’t walk properly he had to hop around. And now he is perfect!

It's something I knew nothing of until my 7 year old the late Spike had problems. It wasn't long before I got used to doing it. And it was so rewarding to see the difference in him when he had been "emptied". He got used to it and from being a very nervous piggy when I got him he became the friendliest of all my pigs - I think he appreciated what had to be done. However it is something that you cannot talk about outside piggy owners circles! As the muggles do not understand.
