My boys are currently living in a two storey hutch in the garden. The food bowl is on the lower level, and the bedroom is at the top.

Yesterday I went out in the pouring rain to feed them, and I found a 4 inch slug in their food bowl :)>>>:)>>>:)>>>

The guinea pigs were just looking at it, obviously wondering what to make of it. I tipped it out on the lawn and washed the bowl, but YUKKY!

I was going to leave them out for another month but I'm not sure now.

when i had mine outside years ago slugs were always popping up all over the place, as well as earwigs....aaahh! (my phobia!)

they are horrible!

We are currently infested with Snails and Earwigs at the mo. They aren't pleasant. I am bringing the pigs in once the temp drops below 10 degrees. :)

This used to happen to me too when mine were outside. I have a phobia of slugs and snails.
Whats worse is my pigs had a food hopper (you put the food in the top and it falls down as they eat it) but sometimes the food got stuck and i had to push it down with my hand. And sometimes there was a slug in the top!
They feel so gross:)>>>!! I SCREAMED:o!

i have the same problem with slugs but they get in my rabbits hutch not my guinea pigs.
They do get into my shed and earwigs i hate earwigs so much.

pow-powpow-pow

jeeze one little snail or slug and you all scream tut women xx>>>

That's why i'm so glad I have mine indoors now! I really do have a problem with slugs! When I used to keep my piggies outside in hutches I solved the problem by putting salt around the base of the hutch. That way no slugs ever crossed the line, or if they tried to they would be shrivelled up!

I don't like them & have accidentally touched one on more than one occassion (hiding behind curtains) but now i get a bit of newspaper, pick them up & throw them in the bin.

ewww..... that's disgusting! did it all squelch out between your toes?!

LOL!! I am having a slug problem aswell, I seem to have 1 in or bythe hutch weekly!

Yep mine had a snail in his dry food bowl yesterday but the funny thing was it had a poop on its shell.I was giggling to myself for ages trying to work out how smudgie had managed to poop on top of the snail especially as he has still got his stitches in from being castrated.I would have lovedto witnessed it !

I have outside piggies but have never found snails/slugs actually inside their cage but I have moved them into to the garage for over winter today because its really cold and wet outside so they are happily dry in the garage now :))

Mine all live indoors, always have and always will! Can't imagine them not being there with me in an evening.
