He finally has a name. He is beginning to come out of his shell a tad.
I have moved the food and hay to one end of the large indoor rabbit cage he is in and the toys and hidey holes and pigloo down the other. If its quiet he is now comming out and checking the food bowl and hay rack.
I have turned the litter tray into a kiln dried grass forage tray which he seems chuffed with.
Still no happy wheeeps, some slightly more normal boar behaviour, more eating and moving about and thankfully still no sign of any underlying nasty problems. He is a chunky boy and a bigger build than the last boar we had.
I plan on giving him another week or so then chatting to our vet about castration so I can begin to consider some other g.pigs. Want to look at the C&C system to give him more space as well as maybe a happyhutch hide and run for him in the garden.

Anyone use Gorgeous guineas products?
Can anyone recommend the best one for a boar who has course hair, dry skin and very puffy long haired bum.

I think they may be a tad kinder than the Johnson insecticide one I have to clean the critters who may not be alone.

WELCOME ZIGGY XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Lots of people on here have used the GG products and been very happy with them :)
I'd email her and tell her Ziggy's situation and ask for advice :)
re the neutering......... is your vet cavy savvy? if you're not sure give an idea of your area and someone can help to advise one who is :)
awwwwwwwww it might just take Ziggy a little while to settle down before he starts wheeeking his little head off x)
Pigtures please drool in the stories section so i can drooool over them !

We have a very good vet who castrated my last boar and sorted out the late TracyBeakerIsland [sow] after she dared scale the cage and climb out the top only to fall four foot and break her foot in her attempt to raid the fridge for salad! Any vet with 24 hour cover and a dental suite with small animal nurses ain't all bad.

Will contact GG- I suspect Ziggy may have enough swiss in him to have their drier skin and bad hair days. Right now he is sat in front of the fan by his cage so I may consider give his longer hair a cut just to cool him down.

My son has taken some posh pigtures I am just not sure if he has uploaded them yet. Will ask when he gets home.

Good news on Ziggy!

Chrissie at Gorgeous Guineas is always very helpful with advice; I am sure that you will end up with the right thing. She formulates her shampoos specially for a guinea pig skin ph.
