Just Got Two Rescue Piggies! (Image heavy)

Thank you X3 They are my precious fuzzy potatoes. Had my eye on another pair at first, but those two were already adopted... Then I was shown Percy and Pedro and fell in love. ❤ Long hair piggies require regular grooming and I love to brush and comb, so they are even more perfect for me than the...

shrieking at being mounted Long haired sow in season

Heya folks. I recently got a rescue youngster to go with my neutered boar, I figured she just would just out run him and not entertain his advances until some time later, I knew they started seasons early but I figured she’d be too busy being small and daft, but as soon as she had her first...

    Piggy hair trim

Hey all, One of my pigs, Ozzy, has super long hair that is non stop growing. I brush his hair regularly, but the hair around his butt keeps matting. - I was trying to comb as much as I could out yesterday, and he wouldn't stop squeaking as it was pulling and clearly uncomfortable for him. - so...

    White boar problem!

We use towels with puppy pads on top, then bath mats on top. They have fleece bedding and vet bed where needed for absorbency. I avoid shavings anyway to reduce chance of respiratory problems. glad he cooperates for the brushing! 😁 ours are the same, easily distracted by food!

Hello everyone, Iv has a look in posts but can’t find any answers so had to make one 😊. Princes is a long haired cross who dislikes grooming in any form. We manage now with a soft baby brush & on top is fine. The problem is her underside area near her bum. If I put my hand down over her tummy...

Long haired guinea pigs during summer

haha same, I got Flo in Feb, she’s the first long haired guinea pig I’ve had and it’s been quite different to short haired guinea pigs. When I adopted her I was told “you only need to brush long haired guinea pigs once every month“. I was a bit skeptical about that and sadly I was right, it’s a...

    Rapunzel has swollen nipples!

She needs a good brushing tomorrow, so I’ll look for hair loss. Her hair is so long on the sides I might not have noticed it underneath there. I mentioned ovarian cysts to the vet on the phone and he didn’t think that was it for some reason. He knows guinea pigs and has owned them for over...

    Wee smell

The thing about the foam mats is the water component of urine will evaporate away so the mat feels dry, but the 'chemically' bits (that break down into ammonia and pong!) will cling on to the mat until it's washed. I made my own liners out of fleece and 'Zorb original' fabric... it's lightweight...

    Picky Guinea Pigs

I also specifically asked if they were both short hair as ive only had long haired in the past and its been a nightmare to groom them. I was told they would both stay short haired, and surprise surprise, i have one very long haired guinea pig who needs brushing daily and her hair cut fairly...

Need advice - What is the best bedding for two long haired guinea pigs?

we are keeping the grid for now in case they get into a fight or something because I can simply put the cage door back and separate them. Their relationship is still not balanced I'm afraid :( they never really "fought" but quarreling quite often. And I have never heard of a horse wash bag...

    Help with handling and trust

Hi and welcome! I've recently got my first long haired pig and she was also handed in by a lady who used to show, so I assumed she must quite like being brushed but no, she hates it and looks terrified when she feels the comb. The only thing I can think is that she was handled quite firmly to...

yeah, I have one long haired guinea pig and trying to groom him is a nightmare, he’s very skittish with us but it’s just heartbreaking seeing them like that with us. Hair help for Betty

Try different types of brushes. My Swiss piggy likes one that's similar to my dogs slicker brush and has metal prongs but my late long haired boar hated it, I had to use a soft bristled brush with him (a bit like a baby's hairbrush). With my long haired he was a bit messy round the bum so I kept...

Hello! Yes, I assumed as mine were having weekly baths and daily grooming they would too be okay with the brush- but NOPE! They seem to be scared and most sensitive on the back and around their oil gland.. I managed to do half a haircut last night! Wow Louise's haircut is such a...
