    Is everyone

Is everyone using foraging blends this is new to me . And isn’t it going backwards and encouraging selective feeding ?

    Single Piggie

So I am filling up his wicker ball with grass and dandelion and other forage at least once per day. Then I am doing a treat once per day in his folded loo roll. I also dangled a carrot from his hide which he nibbled at until it was gone. I've popped in some natural Kraft paper strips which he...

    Engel's Herd

Basil and Cyril are still very happy in each others company and are enjoying helpings of fresh grass and forage. Now that there's just the 2 of them, I'm finding it much easier to obtain a decent amount of it for them daily, rather than every few days or small amounts daily when I had the 8...

    Taking the piggies on holiday?

Just a few thoughts: I’ve never taken mine away (wouldn’t and couldn’t anyway). The sterile cystitis and stress factor would be the main consideration for me. Keeping them cool etc is all doable. They would be fine being without you for long periods - they have each other after all - but yes...

Where to find food safe pet ceramic bowls?

it’s fine to have a bowl for water, but we don’t recommend the use of bowls for any type of food. We recommend that veg and pellets are scattered around the cage and within piles of hay. This is for two reasons: - to prevent the dominant from being able to food hog - to encourage natural...

Little Ginny developes sludge, asking for diet advice.

...coriander and cucumber every day. I give a small amount of spring greens or kale once or twice a week for the calcium. They get fresh weeds/ forage and hours (up to 12 on suitable days) of lawn time in summer and that is replaced with dried forage in winter. The major difference is that I...

    Natural diet

My guinea pigs are eating a lot of grass, wild natural forage and Timothy Hay pellets, so do they still need hay as I ran out of it?

Guinea pig gone off veg a bit/lighter poops - had possible bladder concerns given metacam. Advice please, thank you

To clarify, their one cup of veg each per day is supplementary only making around 15% of the diet so while it plays an important role in replacing wild forage, it isn’t a main part of the diet

    bladder problem veggies too feed?

Do they get pellets? They need some calcium so I feed a little wheatgrass or parsley once a week and my boy who gets no pellets gets forage twice a week.

    Stripe and Chesney

Today Stripe jumped up and down on my lap, popcorned while he was on there, but didn't want to settle down and be stroked. That's okay. He had a bout of hiccups, but he's fine now. Here he is, he always gets forage after his playpen.

    Ophelia

I saw Hamlet popcorn a few times last night, so I think he must be ok with the situation! I am giving them so many forage trails both to keep him entertained and Ophelia eating. I feel like I'm entertaining a guest, trying to make sure that they have a nice time!

    Bonding help please

They are very very still, not really moving. I imagine they are in shock, do you think as the hours pass they will feel a bit more like moving? Do you suggest any forage or veggies in the hay pile? Or just leave them to it?

    Forage recommendations

...pellets and have cut them down to twice a week and even then just a tablespoon. Based on the replies I had I would like to order some dry forage for my two to mix in With their hay. I am feeling a little lost with the choice out there and don’t want it to contain alfalfa. I Would ideally like...

    Help with bar chewing

Mine chews the bars when he wants to come in his playpen. If he does I either give him forage to distract him for five minutes, a puzzle with pellets, or I simply leave the room or top off his hay to distract him. He is obsessed with his playpen so my guess is yours want to free roam!

    Survivors Group Therapy

I'm having forage to distract me. I had a playpen session. I tried to get under the curtain to Chez and mom would snap her finger. How rude! She always thought Chez would be the curious, brave one. But it's me.

    Calcium pee

...but we don’t recommend bowls are used at all. Just scatter it all around the cage and into hay. Scattering helps to stop one pig getting more than the others (although it will still happen a bit) because one pig cannot be everywhere meaning the others get their fair chance to forage and get...

    Urine problems- at a loss?!

Instead of pellets, you can introduce fresh or dry forage. Veg, fresh and dry forage, pellets and any treats all together replace the role of wild forage so you can for instance without problems feed a slice of kale or (collard) greens once a week - provided you always introduce any new foods...

    Calcium balance

...what they just ate? Chez has a mix of clear and milky pee. Most of the time it's clear, but he just did a really milky one. He just ate some forage and two days ago he had some celery. Stripe gets 10 pellets a day. He has calcium veg once a week and forage twice. His pee is usually white but...

    Skeletal and teeth issues

I am not an expert at all but I do see on this forum that they can have Johnsons 4 joints and also someone does a forage that is for joint care 💐

    Cystitis. What antibiotics to use?

My boys take a supplement with cranberry, dandelion and echinacea. It's for their urine and they are on a very small dose of pellets. They get a forage with chamomile, nettle, clover and lavender twice a week.
