    Cooling advice

...have no choice but to move her out at this point in time, however, there is not much you can do to keep a hutch outside cool. Unfortunately, hutches tend to get even hotter inside than the air temperature would suggest, even when in the shade. Hot air tends to trap inside hutches and that...

    Guinea pigs in conservatory.

They have a welfare hutch company hutch attached to their current shed. I may have to use that whilst the new shed is being installed. I wish the welfare hutch company were still going.

    Ramps for guineas

...Piggies are ground dwelling animals and prefer flat surfaces so climbing isn’t a natural movement for them. Due to that, single storey hutches are advised but double storey with ramps are not a total no-no. They just don’t need double storey areas/hutches (upper levels also don’t count...

    Betsy's Guinea Pigs

I need to pick your brains please. When I open the door of the hutch for veggie dindins time or supper time, Saxon always reaches out so far, I think he's going to over balance and fall out of the hutch. I've tried gently pushing him back but this doesn't work as he just moves further along...

    Guinea Pig Pellets

The reality is, you probably can’t. Hutches can be many degrees hotter - so if it is 25 outside, you could be looking at her hutch being 30 degrees or more inside. Therefore it is dangerous to leave her in it. It is much safer to bring her inside. I thought you said you had an indoor cage..can...

    Sudden loss

That makes your hutch minimum size even for two sows - ideally even two sows need a 5ft hutch. So It would still be considered minimum size for a boar/sow pair. Double floor doesn’t double the space.

...tight side for two sows As I have said before, this is the riskier option as if the bonding does fail then you are going to have to have two hutches (so that will end up taking up even more space than one 5ft hutch will) with one piggy in each; and hutches will mean both piggies are alone as...

Yeah I think she did. I think she struggles to get up and down the ramp in the hutch a little though as it a double floor hutch and the ramp is wooden but she manages 😀

    reading temperatures?

The best and recommended reading to go by is in the middle of a room - around 5 feet off the floor so go by the one on top of the hutch. Ground is always going to be colder and ceiling is always going to be hotter. I would remove the floor and shelf thermometers and just use the one on the hutch...

    Hutch liner

Hello I have a large outdoor hutch (that will be moved into a shed in the very cold weather), which I have just lined with self adhesive Lino flooring. I’m just wondering what to put on top of this for warmth and comfort- fleece or vet bed ? Are both okay for outside ? And over the whole...
