Hi, I've ordered 10kg 50 50 hay from haybox and it's fantastic hay, but the boxes are too big for me.

Do anyone know how the 5kg 50 50 hay comes? It is 2 small boxes or 1 big huge one?

It's 2 smaller boxes. I kept mine and fill them up from the big 10kg box as it's easier to store next to their cage

That'll be perfect, thanks for checking. I'm literally sitting with 2 giant boxes in the middle of my sitting room. Don't know what I was thinking

Would you happen to have a picture of the smaller size boxes. We literally have little room and was just wonder how big they are.

So do the box sizes get bigger as you order more? Eek 😬 l have just had my first order from them and ordered a 2.5kg Timothy and 2.5kg meadow to check the boys would happily eat it. They hay is great and they LOVE it! I assumed if I ordered more next time I would get it in the same size boxes but just more of them. I wouldn’t be able to store larger boxes easily.

On the website you can add the 5kg 50/50 option several times so I'd expect to get multiples of 2 x 2.5kg boxes for that. Yes you don't want the huge boxes unexpectedly!

I could show you the size of the big boxes, someone has said they're exactly the size of 2 small ones.

I ordered two 2.5 kg boxes of meadow hay coz the 5kg boxes wouldn't fit in the storage. I did ask of it's possible to get the 5kg hay but split into 2 2.5kg boxes but was told that splitting it would cost more packaging. So I just ordered 2 2.5kg hay and the cost is just an extra £2 overall.

Btw, the size of the 2.5kg box is 457 x 305 x 305 mm.

The 2.5kg boxes just (only just) fit in my piggy cupboard. Anything higher would have to go in the garage. Our garage is not heated though so it may get damp. Having said that my childhood piggies got hay straight from the barn (I grew up on a farm). These piggies are far more pampered!

Your garage doesn't need to be heated. As long as its water free so no rain leaks in, it shouldn't get damp. I keep my hay in the shed when I don't have enough space in my outdoor piggy box that lives by my hutch. It annoys my husband no end, when he goes in his mancave and falls over bags of hay and packs of shavings that I've stockpiled when they've been on offer! 😂 😂 😂

Hi there. So glad I found this thread... Was considering buying Timothy box from there (I get meadow hay bale from farm as bedding). Is it as good as it looks in photos and reviews?

My piggies absolutely love the timothy hay. I thought they'd go for the meadow and eat the healthy timothy once that was finished, but they make a beeline for the timothy. It seems such good quality and a totally different hay to any timothy I've had before. I want to prevent dental problems so I'm very glad. Recent vet check teeth are perfect.

Great, thanks. I buy Timothy, for their hay racks, in small package and hate the plastic, but it was the only one that actually looked and smelled nice. My boys often eat the meadow hay, too. Especially after I cleaned their litter boxes, they spread out in them and eat whilst chilling 😂.
Will give this a go. Hopefully no one pokes their eyes out 🤦‍♀️!

Yes the pieces are huge. I've been extra careful to lay it flat as one of my piggies used to always get haypoke. So far so good.

Yes their hay really is as good as everyone says. I’ve had Timothy and meadow, my boys love the Timothy!

I've just had a text to say mines going to be delivered in the next hour. The last delivery I had from them the first box was not very good and some of the piggies wouldn't eat it but the second was lovely and green and all the piggies couldn't get enough. Fingers crossed it's all good this time.

So.... Noticed my boy had swollen face (on the side) this morning. Checked it and found a 'lump'. Just came back from vets, it was abscess. She found puncture inside his mouth. Got it cleaned and now on baytril and some metacam. Mentioned the hay as it was only thing I changed and my boys don't fight. She wasn't overly concerned and considered it more of a freak accident.
How long have you been using the hay? How do you serve it? I don't put it in hay racks so it doesn't stick out, rather lay it flat on a blanket. Am I just stressing over bad luck?
