SUPER Happy to report LIL MAc is great!
I found a YOUNG smart exotic vet in Orlando FL, 90 min away who removed the stone on day 12 of hand feeding care x every 2 hrs. HE was amazed at his great vigor, he did IMMEDIATELY find a heart murmur, grade 3, so put him at a bit of higher risk but he said he was in such great shape he anticipated it to go well. He removed the stone at 12:30 pm last Thursday, at 4 pm we visited and Mac was like, nothing happened.
He kept him over night and at 10 am we came and got him and headed back home!
His cage mate was SOOO happy to see him, you cried to see that reunion!
I was explained a lot, all the advances in surgury on pocket pets in past ten years!
If you hear of anyone in central Fla in search of great vet, it's dr Santiago Diaz, only doc at exotic Animal Hospital of Orlando! This guy is grad of UF, #9 vet school in the country, and he is WORTH every dime and the drive, our precious Mac eating like crazy, has gained 4 ounces post surgury and I am sure will climb back to his 3 lbs in no time!
Thanks for all the help and advice and feel free to ask my anything.
The Pedialyte helped too when they get sick of water, that was advice when I consulted w our local Zoo vet plus he added meloxicam which helped with painful urination now GONE!
This was a pricy save but he is worth it to us !
Thanks again for you well wishes and prayers! so so happy to see him back his happy self!

Awwwwww I'm so happy for you and Lil Mac. What a fantastic story of survival, way to go Lil Mac!

We all know that feeling of finding a vet who truly knows what they are doing, loves their job and genuinely cares so glad you were able to find someone like that :)

I know that's right. Back tomorrow 90 min over and back for post op! no prob! for a caring doctor, following protocol Aok ! with me!

It's such a relief and what a quick and easy recovery
Now we KNOW we have dedicated exotic vet 90 min away!
It's orig from bogota Columbia...very smart young doc and priceless to us!
A very happy summer for my soon to be Senior over what could have been very sad!

aww! bless him! young doctors are often very motivated, careful and updated! I am happy that your piggie has now such a great vet in case of necessity! and go on writing good posts everywhere about this doctor because he deserves all the glory and people often don't know where to go with piggies.
90minutes is nothing and I need that time for reaching my favourite hospital situated on the other side of Rome...
