5 Little Piggies

I just checked and basically I have known it used on a 6 week old pig and he was fine, and also someone who used to use it on week old pigs if they really needed it (she ran a rescue). It is actually very gentle but effective at the same time.

If you do use it, make sure you leave at least 48 hours after any Ivermectin. Also patch test it for 48 hours first too behind the ear.

Piggies doing much better haven't seen a single scratch for days. I have however noticed a couple now have peeling skin behind their ears is this just dead skin coming off after the first lot of mites have been killed?

Ive dealt with mites before but never with it being this bad (ie hair loss).

Piggies seem to be doing well now just weighed them all again all have put on what I think is a lovely amount of weight. Except that is one of the boys. (I have now confirmed that I have three girls 2 boys). The tri boy has only put on 15gms in just iver a week he is noticeibly smaller than the rest (except for mini pig). Do babies grow at different rates? To compare the others that were around the same weight when arrived have put on about 50gms. He maybe younger as I dont think they are all from same litter considering the difference between my smallest and biggest.

I will type their weights below:

Big girl 29/3 - 316gms - today 390gms
brown/cream girl - 242gms - 305gms
mini pig (girl) 134gms - 194gms
brown/red boy - 261gms - 306gms

tri boy - 257gms - 272gms

They have got two more treatments to go but once they are fone how soon can I introduce to other pigs or rehome is it 2 weeks after the last treatment if they are showing no signs of scratching etc..? The treatments are 2 weeks apart.

Good news is that the girlie with her rough hsir on her bum is growing it back she is much softer haired now she felt a bit like a wire brush but it ws because of her snapped off hairs

I think 2 weeks is the minimum really just to be safe. Glad they are improving though.

Great thanks helen. I want to be safe but also have pepper who's alone so don't want to leave intros longer than necessary as pepper is really not happy alone

Briony! I can't believe I have only just seen this thread! The thought of your hubby's face when you went home with 5 more piggies made me chuckle!

You really have done something amazing by taking on these babies and bringing them back to health. Really hope the rest of their recovery is smooth and you find them some fabulous homes.

Well done!

He only "found" them this week lol! He was fuming for half an hour and since then he's been saying how cute they are and asking about my favourite lol.

This evening he was playing with the smallest girl who ive nicknamed mini pig. She "got away from him" and ended up under couch. Thank god there was a kitchen roll tube underneath as she just climbed init. I was shocked but she fit inside fine without getting stuck or anything! She really is teenie!

I must admit I panicked so much when she was underneath as I didnt know how we'd get her out. I moved the kitchen roll tube to see if shed gone behind it and thought thats heavy she must be in there and she was!

Quick question about recovery food and babies... I have some supreme recovery food and some oxbow critical care would the smallest pig who is putting on less weight benefit from either a bowl of it in the cage or being handfed from a spoon with some? I don't want to use it if it is going to do any harm (ie is it too complete for him, and discourage him from eating hay etc..) I am feeding small quantities of alfalfa pellets (these aren't the bales, they are like the size of pellet foods)
