Janice I am so pleased for you, they are a beautiful herd. There must be much excitement in your wonderful piggy palace. I hope they bring you lots of well deserved joy. X
I’m so pleased you adopted the girlsThank you!
Think I’ll enjoy sitting brushing them! Just hope they look a bit tidier when the trimmed areas grow in! Lol
.
unfortunately I was off about a fortnight or so, so I never got to trim the girls. Lol. uve never had to bathe their bottoms?gorgeous piggies!
for improving the fur you only need to wait...a good organic natural diet, as you always do with your other piggies will make their hair become shiny, long and without arid knots. Once in a while wash their bum and the hair (especially the extremity) using a delicate natural soap (I use an organic one for newborns/children).
The diet rich of vitamins and fresh food will make a great difference. Scissors and brush are not necessary... I don't use them (my sows hate being brushed).

(believe me, I have NEVER brushed Calliope!) and never cut her hair

the wee residuals "burns" the hair, for this reason I sometimes wash (with shampoo) the hair of the bum or I clean it using wet baby wipes (but the sows hate such wipes).
Will get Sandie onto the Forum ASAP!I’m so pleased you adopted the girls
Kirsteen always cuts their bums very short.
That’s why I volunteer to do the haircuts when I am in (usually on a Friday)unfortunately I was off about a fortnight or so, so I never got to trim the girls. Lol.
Also I’m so happy that your friend adopted Frankie and Benny and hope she joins the forum to post pictures of them as I will miss their wee faces.![]()
Long hair is fine don’t panic. All 4 of mine are long haired. And as long as I keep the bum areas short and brush them every so often it’s fine. Yes I’ve used the Johnsons small animal shampoo for bum baths too it’s fine.Yo
uve never had to bathe their bottoms?

She adores the boys already!
The girls certainly have little bare bums just now and it will be trial and error for me dealing with such long hair!
Just put on a post asking about best shampoo products!
I know Gorgeous Guineas is recommended but want something quickly!
I’ve ordered some Gorgeous Guinea shampoo for them! XxLong hair is fine don’t panic. All 4 of mine are long haired. And as long as I keep the bum areas short and brush them every so often it’s fine. Yes I’ve used the Johnsons small animal shampoo for bum baths too it’s fine.
Long ago I had a male piggie who did not dislike being bum washed and dried with the dryer and I did it regularly. Calliope is another story, she does not like being touched "there" and she does not even like being holded in one arm, so that I can wash her using the other free hand. The same for Calipso. This means that I have to put them into a sink...Yo

Would welcome any ideas of the breed of the really long haired ones and any advice on how to improve their coats!
The white one is now called Lily, the black one is Pansy.
The others aren’t quite as long haired - the grey has been called after @ Betsy Little Betsy!
The other long haired one was and still is called Bella.
The smooth haired one is now Rosie.
Than k you! First really long haired piggies in my tribe!Awww they are beautiful!
You're in Tain? My sister has a caravan in Portmahomack. There's a vet there, don't know about guineas though, as it was dogs we had an issue with when we were there. (This was a long time ago). Also, our family has a tradition of going to the Tain Bargain Centre every time we come up. We have a song and everything lol. Sorry for derailing the thread.Sadly no there's a vet in tain but they don't do guineas
