I've a bowl I fill with Hay that I keep topped up. Should I be throwing the uneating hay away? Surely it's still fine for them to eat.

Funny you say that. I got a foodbowl filled with Just Grass for them, and I do the same, I fill it/top it three times a day. Once a week I trow the left-overs away, usually by then they have peed on it. mallethead

So I'd check if I was you if it's still dry. If it is, I see no harm in keeping it in the bowl, but if it's wet or been peed on I'd personally just replace it. Hay isn't that expensive (or well it isn't here).

Fresh is best. I give all of my piggies a huge handful every morning, throw any left overs regardless in the evening and top up again. Same with veggies, anything not eaten is thrown after a few hours as they start to rot which can cause upset tummies :(
I get through a 14kg bag of Meadow Hay in around 3 weeks for 12 piggies and they have a few other varieties available.

i have another question about hay, have just been on amazon, and they have lifelong timothy hay meadow munch 500g x 5 for £13. 45 is that a good hay at a good price? we also give excel herbage with marigold.

Mine eat it as soon as it goes in! And they do go through alot of it, especially when its cold.

There's never any hay left over with my pigs! :))
Used to the situation - but I changed to Burgess Excel (timothy hay with dandelion and marigold) and they seemed to waste most of it. Just checked it earlier and it looks like they'd used it as a toilet. So have just changed them to Timothy Hay by Alfalfa King and they dived straight it.

Mine eat simple meadow hay and they love it. Its fresh, green and smells lovely. I believe that buying them the expensive stuff only makes them fussy eaters!

My lot won't eat the posh stuff rolleyes I've spent £££'s on finding a good hay that they all like and for the past couple of months have used Zooplus Meadow Hay. Guaranteed 3 day delivery, lovely stalky green stuff which smells gorgeous :))

Do you have a Just For Pets near you? I'm pretty sure thats the same size bag I get from there but it costs £3.99! Its a massive bag, I go to Northampton to get it and it lasts my 2 pigs ages.

Wow, that's a great price but after months of searching from suppliers and throwing bales of the stuff away, don't mind paying for a decent hay they like. Think there is one of these stores not far from us, a new shop opened on a complex and we had a wander over but they had piggies/bunnies for sale so I walked out :(

Yep, thats the downside to that shop but it really is the only place I can get decent hay from. The place I used to get it, it got really dusty and horribly thick like straw.
