A very tough few months

I've been inactive really for a couple of weeks, but in truth I've had a really crappy few months. I've been off work since beginning of December with my mental health and I've also had a rubbish time with the piggies. Over the past few months we've lost several, some to old age and some to illness.

The past couple of weeks we've also been battling a Bordatella infection in the herd which has meant my whole heard has been on antibiotics. During the infection we've lost 3 pigs, had several very poorly too but I'm hoping now we are coming out the other side of it.

I can't bring myself to do any rainbow bridge posts at the moment, but the piggies we have sadly lost are: Woody, Wilbur, Alonzo, Merlin, Abe and Phoenix. I am devastated, but trying my best to plough ahead so that the pigs still here have everything they need.

I hope everyone is well and I'm hoping that I can start getting back active again, I've really missed the forum and all you crazy lot!

Sorry to hear this, I can't imagine how tough that must be on you, just keep going, you are doing all that's in your power 👍hope things look brighter for you soon 🙂
 
So sorry to hear this, it must be devastating to have so many losses and the stress of an infectious disease in your herd, its bound to take its toll and wear you down emotionally as well as all the day to day physical effort of trying to keep them all well... sending many hugs x
 
Poor you Ruth! You are keeping going which is the main thing. Just getting out of bed some days is a triumph. My Mum had bipolar (the depressive side more than the manic side) so I know how difficult things can get for people who have mental health issues. On top of this your piggies are ill which must be a huge strain on you emotionally too. Can't do much for you but wish I was closer so I could help in some way. Sorry to hear ! Get well ,like my Therapist ( email session ), if you need to talk to a therapist i can pass her details onto you , she does email, phone,webcam, etc, etc, says take one step at a time and be good to yourself !
 
Oh Ruth I am so sorry to read this post. You must be heartbroken at losing so many of your beloved piggies. Do look after yourself and remember you are an amazing person and a wonderful piggy slave.♥️
 
Oh Ruth - I am so sorry to hear about how hard everything has been lately.
Honestly what you have been through would be a struggle for even the most upbeat person, so you are doing an amazing job holding everything together.
I am thinking of you, and sending positive thoughts and hugs from Switzerland.
 
Oh I am sorry to read you have had such an awful time recently Ruth. The loss of a piggie is always very sad but 6 must be absolutely devastating, I hope you get this bordatella under control and you start to feel better in yourself soon x

I sincerely hope that you can get on top of the bordetella - it is such a nasty thing for guinea pigs! :(

Anyway, I understand how hard it is - I am still chewing on 10 deaths in 13 months. It is not something you can just walk away from...

It's horrid, absolutely horrid, but I hope we are out the worst side now *fingers crossed*. Sending hugs and of course kisses to Dryw and the rest of the herd!

Losing one is heart breaking enough..I'm so sorry for your losses. Sending big virtual higs from me and my lot ❤
 
I can only echo the sentiments and well wishes sent to you above and say how sorry I am that you're having a tough time. I hope you have the help and support you need for your mental wellbeing currently, its not easy juggling life and dealing with loss at the best of times but when you're not feeling great yourself it can make things so much worse.

I lost my best friend due to mental health so I understand how delicate life can be but also how little things can brighten the spirits...even a tiny bit. Not sure if you like essential oils or use them already but I use mine in a diffuser for all sorts if things. Nothing will replace medical care and you need to check they are ok with any medication first but may be worth a try. Sending you a big hug and a ray of sunshine😊 x

I really sorry to hear you having a really horrible time . . oh lass.
I've struggled losing two piggies last few month's and it's hard. Can't imagine how you feeling Ruth. Losing 6 and battling to save others and your health. .
We here as others have said and you besides being a great piggie slave and your other animals are lucky to have you.
Wish I could do more . . I'm off work next week lass and I'm hour away . . if you fancy a piggie catch up or just a natter then not a problem. . just ask ok.

Most of what I started with and my continue love for piggies was helped by you and Duncan.
