Abscess one week post-op

Anna is doing well today. I can see more puss, should I try to clear it out? I feel like the hole is getting pretty deep.

Poor Anna and poor you having to deal with it all. You are such a dedicated piggy slave @HeatherRose.:hug:We do what we have to for our little fluffy potatoes. I'll have to put my life on hold tomorrow as I have just noticed that Dennis has a cloudy eye that wasn't there this morning at 10.30 when he went out on the grass. I'll be phoning the vet 1st thing. I can't take him to the emergency vet now as I it's nearly my bed time and I may have just finished the wine box!:beer:

Good luck with his eye, I hope it’s nothing serious.

Clearing out the pus can feel never-ending at times but at least it it all working its way to the surface which is good.
It's still a horrible job though

How's Dennis?

Keep flushing definitely still got some puss I remember my Fred's abscess took about 2 weeks to heal. It needs to heal from the inside out.

It's looking better, I bet Anna can't wait till it's gone abscesses can be so nasty!

That looks so much better. Hopefully the battle has been won. You have done a great job. ❤️

there's definite improvement, keep it going with the flushing though.... don't let the hole close over or it will trap the pus inside the wound & it will be like starting all over again :(
I had to keep poking open my Graces facial abscess with a cotton (ear) bud& putting the end of the syringe in the hole to flush it. Its a grim task, but it will be worth it when she's all healed up :luv:

@HeatherRose you're doing a great job, keep it up :tu:
speedy recovery gorgeous Anna :love::drool::wub:

This is definitely an experience! Never thought I could stomach something like this, but anything for my fur babies! It is producing less and less puss everyday so hopefully it is clearing up.
