Slightly concerned about Jemimah’s weight last week and being away during the week it was today before I had a chance to weigh her again.
She had dropped nearly 100g in a week so called the vet who gave me an appointment this afternoon

She had a good check over and the only thing the vet could see was a slight reddening on her tongue at the back. So on Tuesday she goes back for a proper dental check under anaesthetic to see if there’s a spur on her back teeth.
We have Loxicom (dog) to give her 1mg twice a day.
Jemimah perked up quite quickly after her first dose and was last seen happily munching

I really am impressed with my new vet - immediate appointments and a good understanding of guinea pigs health issues.

I will be glad when Tuesday comes and goes. Jemimah will be 5 in March so she’s a piggy of mature years

All the best!

After Nerys (in my avatar) and Nesta, I have a very soft spot for Jemimah!

Thank you, that’s very kind of you.
Jemimah is rather special.

How are you doing now, after losing Briallen?

Thanks, I have taken some time out while the pain was still too raw. I am OK.
You can't speed up the grieving process and of course I am missing Briallen just as much as every other of my piggies that have made their way to the Rainbow Bridge. Barri and Llawen have thankfully settled down as a pair.

Poor Jemimah, hope its nothing serious but it sounds like your new vet is very good so she'll be in safe hands. Healing wheeks for your majestic fuzzy boss lady, and hugs for you- its always a worry when they are unwell x

I’m sorry to hear Jemimah is having some problems but your new vet sounds great.
Get well soon Jemimah

Bill and Ted are sending lots of love and healing wheeks to their favourite special little lady 💕😘💕😘
Get well soon Jemimah xx

Poor Jemimah. Sending healing vibes from me and the piggies.xx

I ll wish all goes well for our cute jemimah!❤

Poor gorgeous Jemimah, hope all goes well on Tuesday. Hope she feels better after getting her teeth sorted and gets munching well again. She’s such a beautiful girl xx

We're all thinking of Jemimah and sending her our love, she is a forum favourite and has a big personality (as I remember from her reaction to my attempted beansprout dinner! She is definitely a lady who knows her own mind on the incorrect slaves making vegetable faux pas :) ) and we all wish her well at the vets x

We’re back from the vet and all is well.
Jemimah is a bit wobbly on her legs still and has eaten a little since we came home.
She was eating after she came round from the anaesthetic at the vet’s.
Molars all fine but her incisors needed a little burring.
I will be keeping a very close eye on her this evening and may decide to try a bit of syringe feed if I think she needs it.
Micah was doing a lot of nuzzling and licking when she came back which Jemimah accepted - she was less happy when he got too enthusiastic.
Hopefully by tomorrow she’ll be over the anaesthetic and back to stuffing herself enthusiastically.

Knowing that I was being supported by you all has really helped today and I have appreciated it.
Thank you

I’m very pleased to hear Jemimah is back home where she belongs, and Micah is looking after her. She’s got all our good wishes xx
