Anaesthetic safety

Thanks.
Lunch box is packed with their favourites - lots of cucumber and dill particularly.
Bag packed with hay, nuggets and forage.
Snuggles will go in tomorrow morning.
I’m glad to be working all day to distract me.
I will post my news on Phoebe’s thread tomorrow so as not to hijack yours.
Will be looking out for your update tomorrow evening

Tag me in your thread please so I can check in on her too 😁 I'll post on here as soon as the veg rings. I'll probably be sitting outside the vet then anyway.... 😂

My son has cranio sacral therapy we need to leave soon so hopefully by the time that finishes and we get home it won't be long til she phones. We did discuss the anaesthetic again and she said as he's well if the risk was that high she wouldn't put him through the surgery she would just carry on draining as and when. I was awake from 3.15 so once the phonecall has come and he's doing good it's nap time o clock! I can't pick him up til 6.30-7 x

Vet finally just phoned (I have ring in myself in the meantime and they had a hold up with another surgery so buzz didn't go down til 2pm). He's fine! He's up and about, they've not tried to feed him yet. Apparently there was a lot of abnormal lymph nodes so she's removed all of them and that should be that. She said it could happen on the other side though but we will cross that bridge as and when. I can't wait to see him, pick him up at 6.30 😁 his stitches are internal she said so neither of them can get to them and they'll dissolve themselves. Hoorah!

Great news he's up and about, you must be so relieved! Worrying about the lymph nodes but good they got them in the same surgery. The waiting is the hardest thing, when Theo was neutered his surgery was delayed by an emergency surgery and I was literally sick I was so worried.
Healing wheeks for a swift recovery for your boy! X

Thank you! I questioned her about the nodes thinking oh gosh does this mean its something more and she said no it's where they've harboured a huge infection. Apparently pigs can get infected nodes? So she said just taking them all means it's definitely over for him 💖 she only rang ten mins ago and I'm already twitching with my shoes on to get out the door lol

Thank you! He's eating but he is still pretty drowsy. He's had some hay, cucumber, grapes and coriander. His face is a bit swollen it makes his eye look a bit closed but he seems okay, they're very happy with him. He's back Monday unless he doesn't pick up himself tomorrow. He is on sulatrim now x

He's eating and running around! This is his make shift home for the night, he's going to sleep next to the bed. Should I syringe him still? And should I put woody in this box with him or leave him in their cage? Thank you for all the love guys, I'm so relived this hurdle is over x

If he’s eating normally why not put a a small dish of Critical Care in the box for him to help get him eating well again?
A scattering if oats also seems to go down well.

Relief all round today

So glad Buzz 's operation went well, sounds like you have a great vet.
Sending healing vibes for a speedy recovery.
Is he back with Woody today?
Hugs to you all.xx

Thank you! Yes he went back in about an hour ago. He was fine during the night, I heard him eating nuggets and he ate all his veg. I checked on him about 3am and he was fine. He had his antibiotics and painkillers this morning, I syringed him a bit of critical care then he's gone back in with woody. He ran in and started eating hay. So relieved 😍

Morning, Buzz spent the night in the bedroom again because Woody was being a bit, well, woody last night lol. Lots of teeth chattering from Buzz so I thought he would have the night in peace. His weight was stable this morning (no more syringe yesterday because every time I checked on him he was eating), he's had his breakfast in with woody and he seems fine 😁 think we can definitely see the light at the end of this tunnel! 😍

I think Woody’s behaviour is normal.
When I removed the dividing grids from my cage and Phoebe eventually moved out of her (now disgusting) fleece box Priscilla got rather feisty and chased her away.
I think it was because she still smelled wrong.
I put the divider back to give Phoebe a quiet night, she broke through them within 30 minutes so I just left them to sort it out.
All was well this morning.
Your boys will settle again in no time.
Isn’t it a relief when you see them doing so well?

Hi guys, buzz has his check up in the morning but I just wanted to ask about his eye. Buzz used to look like this on his 'grey side' (the side of the abscess)

Very big eyes all the time. 👆 Now buzz looks like this on his grey side...

His eye looks a bit sunken, it's not cloudy but it's not bright either and the lids are a bit reddish.

He looked like the first photo when I dropped him off for the surgery and has looked like the bottom photo since the minute I picked him up. It was the first thing I spotted when they brought him out to me and I quizzed them right away. They said its probably swelling.

Would that still be there now? He had the surgery four days ago? Or could the eye somehow have been damaged in the surgery? Though I can't see how. The abscess was on his grey side on his neck. He looks so old on that side now and doesn't look like buzz 🤷🏼‍♀️ otherwise he's doing amazing 😍

Buzz has been discharged! No explanation for thr eye but he does still have normal vision in it they believe. After 6 weeks of almost daily appointments he it's over. Thank you for all your support and advice on here as always and thank you to our wonderful vet Raquel and her team ❤️

Great news that Buzz is on the mend. Hope his eye gets better, could it have got a little dry during the surgery?
I don't really know much about eyes.
But hope you see some improvements.
Hugs to you all.xx

Oh yes maybe?! Would that effect it forever? Thank you x

Not really sure. Just know that eyes can get dry during surgery because natural reflexes are suppressed. You could maybe ask the vet about moisturizing eye drops for him.x
