Another bank holiday curse! Oh Rupert!

He’s moving around fine, eating a bit of hay when he pops out and had pellets earlier (grainless). No straining, like he did when the first stone was blocking him urinating (couldn’t pee at all, was well and truly stuck). Just seems uncomfortable. Known him so long just not quite right! Seemed so perky yest.
He’s on 0.2ml of metacam (twice daily) but think I’ll have to give him a bit more, Pedro the 450g (well 470 now!) chin is on 0.15 and I can up it if he’s sore or causing issues so may have to with Rupert, don’t want him feeling terrible.

My poor old boy :( only had 3 and a half days on the sulfatrim so know he’s got a while to go yet, just worried they know something I don’t! :(😢

Poor Rupert, healing wheeks! Piggle scared me today too, I came home from work and she was just laying on her side on the floor with her eyes open and a poop half out of her bum, I was terrified she was dead and ran to the cage... then she woke up and gave me a nasty look for interrupting her nap and wandered off naughty girl... she's mostly better but has nasty crusty wee pants and a bit of urine scald, think we might have a bum bath this weekend...

Naughty, stroppy Piggle! Bless her, glad she’s feeling better. He’s in need of one again too, these light haired poorly piggies do seem to get in a mess! x
He’s had a top up with metacam earlier and I’ll give him a bit of a higher dose soon, has come out for some pellets and moving around so at least still munching himself.
There’s hardly been a noise from either of them all day, it’s really strange, normally a double team with them and the cats but got peace, not sure if I like it though!

They were both up at the side of the cage to greet me this morning, still not heard a peep from either of them though!? He’s had some carrot and cucumber, still turning his nose up at everything else. Had 0.3ml of metacam again and they’ve just come out for a plod around the living room. Slowly!
Can’t get over how much it’s affecting Jess, she’s so loud and mad but really not herself and his shadow when normally the other way round! x
 
Thanks @Bill & Ted, not much more from him since and been in the same spot in his cage for a good while now :( With Jess by his side of course! Gonna give him a feed soon just to make sure he’s getting enough bless him. Hopefully he’ll perk up a bit soon 🤞x

Still got appetite for pellets (that was 50/50 with cc) but not for veg tonight bless him.
The spot on the end of his nose is from the boar glue stuck last week! :roll:

Bracken used to smother his chin in CC like that and then shake like a dog, it woud go all over me and up the walls. I realised after a few weeks of feeding him I was always going to the door wearing old clothes with food stains all down me. Goodness knows what callers thought, especially our postman!

Looked bad this morning, Jess not even next to him :( then left half of his pellets :( so had another feed before I had to go out.
Looks like the metacam’s kicked in now though thank god, was at the side of cage on my return and had a green bean (normally hates them!) followed by a bit of corn of the cob (his favourite!). His taste’s completely changed being poorly, still no pepper, even left carrot earlier! Looks rather bony bless him

Hoping for the best, having flashbacks to my Sheepy years ago with his up and downs, sadly didn’t end well and he was much younger than Rupert. Just hoping that Pedro the chin’s fighting spirit might have rubbed off a little bit :box: xx

Not sure if I should get her out for a feed too, she’s really not herself either :(

Don’t know what to do, never been in this position before with any of my rodents. Ped spent nearly 8 years with Poppy and was nothing like this! 😪
 
Have they lost any weight do you think? Wonder if Jess is subdued because Rupert is off it? Looks like a vet visit perhaps next week, what a shame, hope they pick up soon, can’t think of anything else really, bless them x
 
Yeah she’s been really strange the last few days, really knows somethings going on which is why I’m stressing more. Never been like this and he was bad for a good year with UTIs and stone probs. She’s a tough gal too, just not herself, weights the same thank god. Still only 900 though! Mini nutter!

Yeah definitely vets for both if no change, grr, sick of them, not had a break since sept last year! Thought I might get one month without but nope, 3 in a month instead! :(:(:hb:

Thanks so much everyone, back to miserable again in the cage now but metacam due in an hour so guessing because he’s sore. Nibbled a few pellets but coming out on the bed for some sloppy food and some love in a min. Then I get to make the bed (my fun on a sat night!) as they’re pee monsters! :nod: xx
 
My gorgeous old man’s not doing as well as I’d hoped, still very uncomfortable, although eating certain things he’s being fed more. Takes ages, he’ll eat a couple of spoons but I’m having to syringe to make sure getting enough. Barely drinking from the bottle now as having a lot from me with feeds. (Ped’s not drank since Oct 2018 from his bottle but v different to pigs as chins don’t drink much)

Although he’s improved in certain ways like grooming more (but may be cuz of messy feeds), moving around a bit more, he’s not keen on food. Loving grass and cucumber, mushy food when he’s out with me but not in the cage. His weights down so just under 800 now (stable last couple of days now upped feeds).
Jessie the pig is very sad, bonkers last night on the bed but she knows it’s not good I think. Leaving everything he is so I’m having to top her up too. Never seen her like this even after her big op a few years ago!

He’s on cystease (for years now) and metacam, 9 and a half days of sulfatrim.
I think back to vet maybe Friday to have another pee test just to check if improved slightly or maybe see if another antibiotic might help but he’s done great with this in the past.

I’m just battling with my stupid brain and heart with not putting him through too much, he had a lot of issues for many months with bladder and back in 2016 Simon said with his age and bad reactions to anaesthetics he wasn’t good to put through more. And this is 2 and a half years later! Been so strict with diet etc had really hoped he’d have a peaceful few years!

And I’ve got Pirate Pedro’s care, my stupid epileptic brain and just got over my own UTI so everything’s mad at the moment! Lost half a stone in two weeks!
Sorry to blab, really don’t know what’s best but just needed a bit of a rant! Oldest piggy I’ve had (and shouldn’t say it but sort of my favourite too :love:) so it’s hard to think I’m putting him through cack he’s not going to get through anyway :(

It’s my fault I’ve lost weight anyway, not pig n chin, just hard with seizures to eat anyway! So think I need to get some baby food in and give me and him syringes at the same time! XD
 
Sorry you're having such a hard time with your own health as well as Rupert.
You will know in your heart when the right time to call a halt to feeding and treatment is, but it will be difficult.
Carry on ranting here - we're here to support you through everything
